COUNTY OF WILLIAMSON
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN IN
HONOR OF JO ANN MORSE AND LYNN BURNETTE AS CO-CHAIRMEN OF
GOERGETOWN BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION
WHEREAS, prior to the Bicentennial year of 1976, the year of celebrating the birth of
this nation on its 200th birthday there was established a Bicentennial Commission for the
purpose of planning, coordinating, working and organizing the celebration of said historical
event by the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Jo Ann Morse and Lynn Burnette were appointed by the City of Georgetown,
Williamson County, Texas, by and through its City Council as Co -Chairmen of the said
Georgetown Bicentennial Commission; and
WHEREAS, said Co -Chairmen, Jo Ann Morse and Lynn Burnette, did dilligently,
effectively and unselfishly perform all the duties and responsibilities of Co -Chairmen
of the Georgetown Bicentennial Commission toward the accomplishment of innumerable
worthwhile celebrative projects including but not limited to the following:
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Park
N 2. The Cabin from Gabriel Mills
.�. 3. The Bandstand in San Gabriel Park
4. The Hike and Bike Trail
�= 5. The Gala Celebration on the Fourth of July, 1976, at the San Gabriel Park
including the County Fair at the Community Center, the booth display by the
various civic clubs and the Fourth of July fireworks demonstration; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens of Georgetown, Texas, and the surrounding communities are
appreciative and thankful for the dedicated service, the patriotic spirit and efficiency
of said Co -Chairmen, Jo Ann Morse and Lynn Burnette; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown deems it appropriate to express
in writing such sentiments did in open meeting on the 8th day of March, 1977, A.D.
unanimously pass, enact and resolve a resolution on behalf of itself and the citizens of
Georgetown and the surrounding communities the following:
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Williamson County,
Texas, that Jo Ann Morse and Lynn Burnette be and each of them is hereby cited for
appreciation and thanks by said City Council and such citizensry for the efforts, work and
effectiveness as Co -Chairmen of Georgetown Bicentennial Commission; be it further
RESOLVED that they be cited for the accomplishment of the many worthwhile goals that
enabled Georgeown and its surrounding community to more meaningfully celebrate the 200th
anniversary date of this Republic.
