HomeMy WebLinkAbout0181_1791179 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE QUITCLAIM DEEID COVERING APPROXIMATELY 20 ACRES IN N. PORTER SURVEY AND TO EXCHANGE SAME FOR QUITCLAIM DEED FROM RAY THOMAS, SR. AND WIFE, DOROTHY THOMAS COVERING APPROXIMATELY 6 ACRES OF LAND IN SAID SURVEY. WHEREAS, Ray F. Thomas, Sr. has purchased through the Texas Veterans Land Board approximately 20 acres of land through the Texas Veterans Land Program, said land hereinafter described; and WHEREAS, the said Ray F. Thomas, Sr. has since such acquisition used said land for his homeplace and for such other purposes for which same is suited being since on or about September 23, 1963; and WHEREAS, Ray F. Thomas, Sr. has coveyed a portion of said 20 acre tract to a Texas Corporation, River Oaks Landscaping, Inc.,; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas has a claim or claims on certain portions of said land constituting said 20 acres or adjoining lands by virtue of certain deeds or otherwise and the said Ray F. THomas, Sr. and wife, Dorothy Thomas have certain claims to land in the same survey presently in the possession of the City of Georgetown; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Georgetown, Texas, Ray F. Thomas, Sr. and wife, Dorothy Thomas and the officers and directors of River Oaks Landscaping, Inc. to resolve all of said differences and to quiet the title to said land by the amicable ^, settlement of such conflicting claims and said matter having been fully presented and ;r discussed at the regular city council meeting at city hall on August 9, 1977: RC1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that its Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to `' execute a Quitclaim Deed to River Oaks Landscaping, Inc. covering all of the city's rights, titles and interests, if any, in and to that certain tract and parcel of land described as follows: BEING a tract of land situated on the N. Parter Survey in Wi Iliamson County, Texas, and also being a part of the 30 acres conveyed in three tracts by Texas Veterans Board to said Dibrell by contract of sale that is recorded in Vol. 404, Page 22, Deed Records of Williamson County, Texas, and conveyed from the Texas Veterans Board to Ray F. Thomas, Sr. by Special Warranty Deed, recoreded in Vol. 596, Page 375, Deed Records of Williamson County, Texas. BEGINNING at a cedar fence corner post in the South line of Morrow Street in North Georgetown, Texas, said point also being 5' East of the N. E. Corner of Block 7 of said North Georgetown. THENCE with a fence, S. 0 deg. 20'W to a fence corner post. THENCE with another fence, S. 85 deg. W 150 feet and S 89 deg. W. 695' to a steel fence corner post in the East line of U. S. Highway 81, said point also being the S. W. corner of Block 14 of said North Georgetown. THENCE S. 2 deg. 30' W., crossing the North Fork of the San Gabriel River, 295 feet to a 3/4" steel shaft at the N. W. corner of a tract formerly belonging to the Belford Lumber Co. and now owned by Mrs. Wilma Brummett. THENCE with Mrs. Brummett's North line, N. 89 deg. 30' E. at667' past the N. E. corner, and at 1270' in all another 3/4" steel shaft for an inside corner hereof. THENCE S. 0 deg. 37' W. 487' to a 3/4" steel shaft at the low water mark on the North bank of the South Fork of the San Gabriel River. THENCE along the North bank of said South San Gabriel River as follows: N. 68 deg. 40'E. 30'; N. 37 deg. 20' E. 478; and N. 35 deg. 20' E. 575' to the intersection of the North bank of the South San Gabriel River and the South bank of the North San Gabriel River.
