Sec. - 22. Same --Building maintenance electrician.
A building maintenance electrician's license shall entitle the holder thereof
to maintain and repair electrical installations in a particular building or buildings
for a designated employer according to the provisions of this ordinance, but shall
not entitle him to otherwise engage himself as either a master or journeyman
electrician. The holder of a building maintenance electrician's license shall be
entitled to repair and maintain electrical wiring, apparatus, equipment and
machinery upon the premises specifically covered by his license, when such work
is done for and in behalf of his employer in connection with such employer's use
or occupation of the premises or business conducted thereon. He shall be required
to pass an examination required for a building maintenance electrician.
Seca - 23. Bond, qualifications for electrical contractor.
Each applicant for an electrical contractor's license shall, as a condition for
the issuance of the same, furnish a surety bond payable to the city in the amount
of two thousand dollars ($2, 000. 00), with such sureties as the city manager and
the city attorney shall approve and in a form approved by the city attorney, with
the condition that such holder will comply with the laws and ordinances relating to
electrical wiring and construction and will pay all damages, costs and expenses
caused by his employees' or agents' negligence or failure to comply with such
laws and ordinances.
Each holder of an electrical contractor's license shall furnish financial
statements, references, recommendations and such other evidence as required
to satisfy the board as to his qualifications and ability to contract for electrical
work. Also, each holder of an electrical ltontractor's license shall either hold
a valid master electrician's license from the city or have in its employment
as a permanent full-time employee a master electrician licensed by the city who
shall be in direct supervision of all electrical wiring or construction.
Sec. - 24. Employment of apprentice electricians.
Any person holding a valid electrical contractor 's"license under the provisions
of this chapter may have licensed apprentice electricians to assist in any electrical
work, provided that such apprentice electricians shall work only on the job site with
and under the supervision of a licensed journeyman or master electrician.
Sec. - 25. Application for examination; examination fee.
(1) All applicants for examination for any type of electrician's license shall
file with the secretary of the board written application in such form and at such
time as the board may prescribe. If the application is for an examination for
master electrician, it shall be supported by evidence showing the applicant has
a total of six (6) years experience, three (3) years of such experience as a
journeyman electrician, or the equivalent of such experience gained by earning
an engineering degree from an accredited college or university. If the application
is for an examination for journeyman electrician, it shall be supported by
evidence that the applicant has a total of four (4) years experience as an apprentice
or the equivalent of such experience gained by earning an associate degree by the
completion of an electrical course at a state technical training school. If the
application is for an examination for journeyman electrician (restricted), it shall
be supported by evidence that the applicant has a total of two (2) years experience
as an apprentice electrician. If the application is for an examination for main-
tenance electrician, it shall be supported by evidence that the applicant has the
same experience required for an applicant for journeyman electrician.
(2) The following examination fees must be submitted with each application:
Master electrician $10.00
Journeyman electrician 5.00
Building maintenance electrician 5..00
Sec. - 26. Re-examinations; re-examination fee --First.
No applicant who has failed to pass his first examination for an electrician's
license shall be examined again prior to the expiration of two (2) months thereafter
and for his second examination he shall be required to pay an additional examination
fee in such sum as set forth in Section 25-2.
