AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF PUBLIC
STREETS FOR PARADES, PROCESSIONS, STREET
DANCES, AND SIMILAR NON TRAFFIC USES; DEFINING
PARADE; REQUIRING A PARADE PERMIT; PROVIDING
FOR CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS; ESTABLISHING
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR
A FILING FEE; FIXING CONDITIONS FOR THE
GRANTING OF A PERMIT; REQUIRING LIABILITY
INSURANCE; REQUIRING A CLEANUP DEPOSIT;
PROVIDING FOR ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS TO BE
IMPOSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE;
PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
00 Section 1. Definitions. For the purposes of this ordinance
(o the following words and phrases shall have the meanings

Q Parade: Any parade, march or procession of any kind or any

similar display consisting of fifty (50) or more persons or
twenty-five (25) or more vehicles or twenty-five (25) or more
beasts of burden in or upon any public street, alley, or sidewalk
in the City. The word parade shall specifically include any
street dance, race, rally, concert, flea market, block party, or
other similar activity occurring upon any public street, alley,
or sidewalk in the City; and similar events held on property
adjacent to such streets, alleys and sidewalks when such activity
requires the closing of said public ways or creates an undue
traffic hazard.
Parade Permit: A permit as required by this ordinance.
Section 2.
Exceptions. This ordinance shall not apply to:
(a) Funeral processions.
(b) Students going to and from classes or participating in
educational activities; providing such conduct is under the
immediate direction and supervision of the proper school
authorities.
(c) A governmental agency acting within the scope of its
functions.
Section 3. No person shall engage in, participate in, form
or start any parade, street dance, block party, race, rally,
concert, flea market, or any other activity, requiring the
closing or blocking off of any portion of any street, alley or
sidewalk, or requiring the directing of traffic, unless aap rade
permit shall have first been obtained from the City Council.
