A RESOLUTION REQUESTING GENERAL TELEPHONE
COMPANY AND THE PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION TO
DELETE THE EXTENDED AREA SERVICE CHARGE
BETWEEN GEORGETOWN AND JARRELL AND PROVIDING
FOR THE RETROACTIVITY OF THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, General Telephone Company currently charges
customers in the City of Georgetown for Extended Area Service to
Jarrell; and
WHEREAS, The Public Utility Commission has jurisdiction over
telephone rates; and
WHEREAS, on August 24, 1982, the City Council passed a
resolution requesting deletion of the Extended Area Service
00 change between Georgetown and Jarrell; and
co WHEREAS, a poll was taken in Georgetown in September and
October of 1982, in which 3,016 respondents were in favor of
eliminating the Extended Area Service between Georgetown and
Q Jarrell and 4.19 respondents were in favor of retaining the
Q Exteoied Area Service between Georgetown and Jarrell; and
WHEREAS, a poll was taken in Jarrell in November and
Dec<:mber of 1982, in which 8 respondents were in favor of
eliminating the Extended Area Service between Georgetown and
Jarrell and 197 respondents were in favor of retaining the
Extended Area Service between Georgetown and Jarrell; and
WHEREAS, no official action has been taken by General
Telephone Company or the Public Utility Commission to delete the
Extended Area Service between Georgetown and Jarrell; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown
that ,enaral Telephone Company and Public Utilities Commission
ar° : eraby requested to take immediate action on the deletion of
the ►?.xtended Area Service between Georgetown and Jarrell.
