SPECIFYING WHO SHALL FILL SAME AND DEFINING HIS DUTIES.
BB IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas thats
Section 1. The office of street Commissioner of the City
of georgetown, Texas, is hereby created, and the City Marshal
of said City shall be ex -officio Street Commissioner and shall
perform all the duties of the office.
Section 2. The Street Commissioner shall be the custodian
of the teams, wagons, tools and implements belonging to the
City and used for street work, andshall see to their safe keep-
ing and return, and shall annually at the first meeting in
April of each year, or as soon thereafter as possible, make a
report to the City Council, giving an inventory of all such
wagons, teams, tools and implements on handand showing what
new ones have been bought during the year andwhat became of the
old ones. He shall also make such report at any other time when
requested to do so by the Council.
Section 3. The Street Commissioner shall have the gen-
eral superintendance of all street repairs and improvements,
and it shall be his duty to superintend all work done upon the
streets alleys and public grounds of the City, control all
workmen thereon, keep account of the time and amount of work
and of the amount and cost of material, and make report thereof
to the Council whenever desired by the Council.
Section 4. It shall be his duty to see that the streets,
alleys and public grounds are kept free of filth and other
obstructions of all kinds, and he shall have charge of the
prevention of the erection of any obstructions in the streets,
alleys or public grounds of the City, and he will remove or
cause the same to be removed, and he shall inspect such streets,
alleys and public grounds and see that the ordinances and
regulations relating thereto are strictly observed, and shall
report all infractions thereof to the Mayor or the City Attorney.
