associates, successors and assigns, by accepting the franchise,
rights and privileges herein granted, agree and bind themselves
to hold the City of Georgetown free and harmless from any liab-
ilities or damages whatsoever, which may arise or result from
any negligence on their parts or which may arise or result from
any violation of the terms and conditions of this ordinance,
or which may arise or result by reason of any failure to construct,
maintain and operate said system of sewerage in a proper and san-
itary manner.
Section 4, The general plan of said sewerage system shall
be as follows, to -wits Sewers shall be of the best quality of salt
glazed terra cotta, vitrified pipes, truly cylindrical, laid
upon a true gradient, with joints made tight by first class Port-
land cement mortar, or they shall be made of first class hard
burnt brick laid in first class Portland cement mortar; manholes
shall be placed where ever necessary and covered with approved
cast iron covers strong enought to carry the heaviest traffiee;
sewers to be laid at such depth below the surface of the earth
as not to interfere with work on streets, alleys or other public
places and to give a fall of not lees than 2* inches in each
Ton (10) feet from adjacent buildings; no lateral sewer shall
be less than (6) six inches in diameter, provided that laterals
not lees than Eight (8) inches in diameter shall be laid on such
streets as may be from time to time designated by the City Council,
and all the mains before the entrance of any lateral sweres shall
be not less than Ten (10) inches in diameter; all pipes, sewers,
etc., shall be laid under the supervision of the Street Commiss-
ioner, or other person designated by the City Council. The be-
ginning of the main shall be at the intersection of Brushy and
Cedar Streets and outlet to be upon 6*`acre tract of land owned
by said Allen and Marshall lying Bast of and adjoining the I.0.0,7*
Cemetary, The main at the beginning point shall be at sufficient
depth that the top of a later extending from such point to the
public square will be Eighteen (18) inches below the surface at
the South line of Oak Street.
Section 5. The said John R. Allen and L. Marshall, their
associates, successors and assigns, shall construct, maintain
and operate a good and efficient systen of sanitary sewerage
within the corporate limits of this City, and shall furnish good
and efficient sanitary sewerage for all their patrons, public
