HomeMy WebLinkAbout0301_84-30AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF A CERTAIN CITY STREET IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, NAMELY TIMBER STREET TO MARTIN LUTHER RING, JR., STREET WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown endeavors to honor and preserve the heritage of its black community and to foster respect of and pride in black leaders who have taught civic responsibility, human understanding, and social justice= and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown believes that those goals will be assisted by renaming the main street in its black community to honor and commemorate a black leader: BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that the name of Timber Street be changed to Martin Luther Ring, Jr., Street beginning at the intersection of Timber Street and University Avenue and continuing north as far as the street continues. PASSED AND APPROVED on the first reading on the 21st day of May, 19 84 . PASSED AND APPROVED on the second reading on the 12 day of .Tune , 1984. MAYOR CARL J.
