HomeMy WebLinkAbout0118_85-15RESOLUTION R85-15 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE TEXAS PUBLIC POWER ASSOCIATION'S PROPOSED LEGISLATION INTRODUCED BY SENTOR KENT CAPERTON (S.B. 1032) AND REPRESENTATIVE RICHARD WILLIAMSON (H.B. 1634). Whereas, Municipally owned electric utilities have been totally unsuccessful in securing amended applications for Certificates of Convenience and Necessity from the Public Utility Commission to serve their citizen owners in newly annexed areas and Whereas, Lesiglation has been introduced in the House and Senate in the form of H.B. 1634 and S.B. 1032 which Legislation would help alleviate the aforementioned problem, and Whereas, the inability of municipally owned electric to expand service areas greatly impairs the financial integrity of the municipally owned utility. NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Georgetown unanimously supports the passage of H.B. 34 and S.B. 1OJ2. Passed this 9 day of 0r',',L1985.
