January 13, 1958
The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor
J. T. Atkin presiding. The following members were present; Aldermen
J. H. Compton, E. K. Fredericson, Ralph Freund, Kennie Wilcox, Jr.
A. C. Woodfin. City Manager, Lee C. Black, Assistant Manager H. A.
Partain, Assistant Chief of Police, Dan Dowda.
Minutes of the last session were read and on motion of Alderman Wilcox
seconded by Alderman Freund were approved as read.
Manager Lee C. Black read his own and the monthly reports of officers
and bills and accounts of $548.85 for approval and payment. On motion
of Alderman Woodfin and seconded by Alderman Frederieson the reports
were received and filed and accounts ordered paid.
A Committee representing The Chamber of Commerce came before the Council
In regards to removing the Parking Meters for a period of 6 months, the
Committee composed of Mr. Sam Brady, Dr. Hester, Paul Hinderlang and
John Rosenblad.
RESOLUTIONS
Be it resolved by the City Council that the Parking meters be
removed January 15, 1958 for a period of 6 months ending July 15, 1958.
This being a trial period to test their traffic need as well as their
economic feasibility. Motion made by Alderman 400dfin, Seconded by
Alderman Fredericson. '�he motion carried by the following vote, Ayes;
Compton, Fredericson, Woodfin, Wilcox, Freund. Noes -- None.
Motion was made by Ald; Compton seconded by A1d;Freund that I.J.VcCook Jr
be appointed City SecretA.ry, motion carried ionanimously.
RESOLUTION OF RESPECT, IN MEMORY OF MR. M. L. CATES, DECEASED
Whereas, Providence has seen fit to remove from our midst our friend
and fellow citizen.
Therefore, Be it resolved, First that the City Council of Georgetown,
Texas, in regular session, express its deep regret because of the loss
to our community.
Second; His thirty years of service as City Secretary was most
efficient.
Third s That we tender our heartfelt sympathy to those whom he has
left behind.
That these resolutions be spread upon the minutes and that a copy be
sent to his family.

The Council agreed to meet with representatives of the Southwestern
States Telephone Co. 4t their next regular meeting in February.
There being no further business, on motion of Alderman Compton, Seconded
by Alderman Fredericson, the Council adjourned.
