WEEKLY UPDATE December 10, 1982 PUBLIC WORKS - Patching and working on walk bridge footings; digging pits at landfill; contacting Engineers on landfill certification. WATER AND SEWER - Routine maintenance and repair to the system. Lost the motor at 15th and Railroad lift staion; replaced it with a spare one that we had on hand. POLICE - The department sponsored a siminar on "Texas Family Code and Family Violence" by the Regional Police Academy for area Peace Officers; Conducted Firearms Qualification for Southwestern University Offiers. Sergeant Loney completed police instructors school; Sgt. Mahagan attended Identification Officers School. We furnished a program for a Neighborhood Watch Meeting. Sergeant Charles Rine received his Advanced Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, BUILDING - Initiated 6 junked vehicle cases this week. Checked all the weather proof electric outlets around the down -town area installed for the Christmas lights. Letter out to all electrical contractors and master electricians with 1983 renewal notices. Single resident starts staying at about 1 new start a day average. CITY HALL - Enclosed is a synopsis of the leases at the Airport. Also enclosed is a report on Utility System Service Charges and the minutes of the November City Council meetings. The survey on EAS. in Jarrell is in progress. Fi November 9, 1982 The City Council met in regular session on the above date at 7:00 PM with Mayor John C. Doerfler presiding. The following Councilmen and Officials were present: Eb C. Girvin, Carl Doering, Marvin Lackey, Bill Connor, City Manager Leo Wood, Public Works Director W. L. Walden, Tax/Finance Director Barbara Raney and Planner Renee Hanson, and City Secretary Jim Colbert. Councilman Shell was absent. Minutes Motion by Doering and seconded by Connor to approve the minutes of City Council by Girvin meetings held October 12, 1982, October 22, 1982, and October 29, 1982. Motion Program carried by unanimous vote. Bills Motion by Doering and seconded by Connor to approveent of all bills over $2,000.00. Motion carried by unanimousvote Reports The Council approved the monthly reports. Distributive Education Class - San Gabriel Motion by Doering and seconded by Connor to allow the Distributive Education Park Class to provide playground equipment in San Gabriel Park. Motion carried by study to be performed by Guyton and unanimous vote. Award Bids - Runway Lights Award Bids - Water Line in Park Advertise for Bids - Police car The following bids on installation of medium intensity runway lights at the Airport were received: Pecan Valley Electric $46,409.00 Utility Control b Const 58,912.17 Gifford Electric 68,742.75 Motion by Doering and seconded by Girvin to award the bid to Pecan Valley Electric. Motion carried by unanimous vote. The following bids on materials for a water line in San Gabriel Park were received: Trans -Tex Aqua Utility Bowles b Eden $2,139.93 2,592.25 2,675.76 Motion by Connor and seconded by Lackey to award the bid to Trans - Tex. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Motion by Lackey and seconded by Connor to authorize advertisement for bids on a police car. Motion carried by unanimous vote. TAC Grant Offer - Runway Overlay Motion by Connor and seconded by Doering to the Texas accept from Aeronautical Commission for useinfiscal 1984. Board of Appeals Appointments - Fire Code Board of No action was taken on this matter. Adjustments Appointments - Library Board Mayor Doerfler appointed Linda Ciseneros to Thomas replace Sylvia on the Library Board. November 15, 1982 The City Council met in Special Session on the above date at 5:00 PM with Mayor John C. Doerfler presiding. The following Councilmen and Officials were presents Eb C. Girvin, Carl Doering, Marvin Lackey, Bill Connor, William C. Shell, City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary Jim Colbert, Public Works Director W. L. Walden, Tax/Finance Director Barbara Raney and Planner Renee Hanson. Ordinance - Budget Motion by Connor and seconded by Shell to approve on first Amendment, 1st reading as an emergency an ordinance amending page 37, Utility reading Fund - Restricted Capital Projects of the 1982-83 budget. Motion carried by unanimous vote. .(See Ord. Book A, Pages 390-391). Adjourn There being no further business, on a motion by Connor and seconded by Shell, the meeting adjourned. U November 18, 1982 The City Council met in Special Session on the above date at 4:00 PM with Mayor John C. Doerfler presiding. The following Councilmen and Officials were present: Eb C. Girvin, Carl Doering, Marvin Lackey, Bill Connor, William C. Shell, City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary Jim Colbert, Public Works Director W. L. Walden, Tax/Finance Director Barbara Raney and Planner Renee Hanson. Ordinance - Motion by Shell and seconded by Girvin to award the bid on Receive and Award $750,000.00 combination Tax and Revenue Certificates of Bids on $750,000.00 Obligation to the First National Bank of Georgetown with a Combination Tax and bid of 9.5%. The only other bid received was from Citizens Revenue Certificates State Bank of Georgetown of 9.8643%. Motion carried by of Obligation unanimous vote. (See Ord. Book #4, Pages 392-398).
