HomeMy WebLinkAboutChildhood Cancer Awareness Month 2014 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, childhood cancer is the number one disease killer and second leading cause of death (exceeded only by accidents) of children; and WHEREAS, every school day, 36 young people, or two classrooms of students, are diagnosed with cancer in this country; and WHEREAS, currently over 40,000 children and adolescents are being treated for childhood cancers; and WHEREAS, the incidence of childhood cancer has increased every year for the past 20 years; and WHEREAS, every year over 2,500 children under the age of 20 lose their lives to cancer; and WHEREAS, our children are our most precious resource and are truly golden in our hearts; NOW THEREFORE, I DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim September 2014 as NATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH in Georgetown, Texas
