Gentlemen: 1 want to report to you for the year 1955-56 endinS August 31st- As would like to list by departments some of the accomplishments that were obtained in the year just passed* Electric Dept: installed 58 Poles, 13 now transformers, built transform.er vpult at the Court House and built 3 other transformer banks, renewed 643 street MmPs, hater Depts Lgid 3691, water `s'i},,J-ns, repaired 21 main line leaks, 135 neter leaks and repaired 51 BO meters. installed 4 new fire hydrants. Sewer Dept: Hauled and placed on streets 5,580 Yards of gravel, 1,142 loads of brush was hauled. Completed sidewalks and drives an l2th.8treet. Garbage Dept: Fogged the town 7 times, sprayed alleys 20 times and hauled 6,319,000 Pounds of garbage. A new fence was built at the ANtion Barn and all trees cut on the norturl side. Roof at San Gabriel Center Building was coated to make it last and seal out the water. 'Well at the Airport was cleaned out and dug 501 deeper to get as better 0er, supply. Nion Garbage truck was purchused to replace the old truck. it great deal of time an,d detail study has been made on our water problem. Yr. GuVton, a Specialist on underground water, was employed and a chart ol" the 1,`,ras made surrounding the City in a 5 mile radius. Weekly readings have been kept to determine the water tables, Also daily chzeks on our present wells, keeping the pumping and static levels of the water tables. Studies c e being made to find more utter and also the building of dams for surface reservoiurs. This answer must be determined in the near future. A new fire truck wqs bought and placed in service to answer rural fires and will also be used in the City. We are enjoying the full credit of M" in our Key fire rate. This is accomplished hy law fire record losses and by having 3 men attend the Fireman's Training 3chool at A & M College* 1 would like to recomnend to you some fajor thing to accomplish thAs coming year . !St. Know that we have plenty of water in our present supyly and locate another supply for supplemeab and standby water. 2- Build an 8" rfain from the present overhead tower to the Hutto Road and connect same to the mains on 12th. street in crier to have a two way feed in and out of the overhead tower. 3- install an additional pump on the treated water reservoir for additional pumpinS and use it also for a standby pump. 4- 'v'-J-ork into a paving program of scum 00 tb 60 blocks of paving. Pave the road in front of the San Gabriel Center Building. 5- Entend the present office building to relieve our present crowded office, provide Council room up stairs. . ork toward putting the Tax Assessor and Collector in the City Office. Complete the Police office building with remote 2-!Ay control and have an all night attendant.
