I I I;?, I t— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, DESIGNATING ONE MAILING ADDRESS AND ONE ELECTRONIC MAIL ADDRESSES FOR PURPOSES OF RECEIVING PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUESTS. WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need to effectively receive and legally disseminate information about the affairs of government and the official acts of public officials and employees; and, WHEREAS, Senate Bill 944 of the 2019 Texas Legislative Session amended Texas Government Code Chapter 552, the Texas Public Information Act, to add Section 552.234, which authorize a governmental body to designate one mailing address and one electronic mail address for receiving public information requests; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to the new Government Code Section 552.234, a governmental body that posts the designated mailing address and electronic mail address on its internet website is not required to respond to a written request for public information unless the request is received at one of those addresses, by hand delivery, or by an approved alternate delivery method. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS: SECTION ONE. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this Resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. SECTION TWO. The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, hereby designates records@georgetown.org as the electronic mail address for the purpose of receiving requests for public information subject to Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code. In addition, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, hereby designates the following address as the mailing address for purpose of receiving requests for public information subject to Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code: Georgetown City Hall Attn: Open Records 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St. Georgetown Texas 78627 Resolution No. l 1 l ZI L+ . The City Manager or his designee shall immediately post the above - designated mailing address and electronic mail address on the City's internet website and shall provide the designated mailing address and electronic mailing address to any � person on request.
