HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 09.08.1975 - Proposed AnnexationRESOLUTION A RESOLUTION SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO PUBLISH OR CAUSE TO BE PUBLISHED NOTICE OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARING WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown has, at its meeting on this day held, considered the propriety and the advisability of insti- tuting annexation proceedings relative to a tract of land hereinafter mentioned; and WHEREAS, Article 970a of Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes prescribes procedures to be followed regarding the publication of notice, scheduling of hearing and other such matters: THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORIGETOWN that on the 13th day of October , 1975, at 6:30 o'clock P. M. in the City Council Chamber of City Hall of the City of Georgetown, Texas, the City Council will hold a public hearing, giving all interested persons the right to appear abd be heard on the proposed annexation by the City of Georgetown, Texas, of the following described property, to -wit: (SEE EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Georgetown is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of such public hearing to be published once in a newspaper having general circulation in the City and in the above described territory not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of said public hearing, all in accordance with the Municipal Annexation Act (Chapter 160, Acts of the 58th Legislature, Regular Session, 1963; compiled as 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), PASSED AND APPROVED this the 8th day of September , 1975, at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas. ONE A OPIA, EXHIBIT A FIELD NOTES FOR AN EASTWARD EXTENSION OF A PORTION OF THE EAST CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS BEING 164.73 acres of the N. Porter Survey, Abst.#497, and the Antonio Flores Survey, Abst. #235, enclosing 16.25 acres of a 23.62 acre tract described in a deed from the City of Georgetown to Sam Harris, of record in Vol. 340, page 331, and enclosing various tracts described in deeds, to the City of Georgetown, part of a 100.0 acre tract described in Vol. 329, page 132, all of a 73.48 acre tract in Vol, 465, page 381, and all of a 15.72 acre tract in Vol. 468, page 243, Deed Records, Williamson County, Texas, also enclosed is a portion of the San Gabriel Park and a portion of the Old Weir Road. Surveyed on the ground in August, 1975, by W. F. Forest. BEGINNING at a point in the NW Right of Way line of the MK&T Railroad on an East line of the present city limits, N 40°00' W 234.5 feet from a set stone found at a bend in the East city limit line, said stone stands N 19*00' W 1799.0 feet from the SE corner of the original I.O.O.F. Cemetery tract, and also stands N 42°03' W 40.8 feet from the NW corner of a large old house. Said stone i;s mentioned in the deed to Southwestern University, Vol. 318, page 214. Said stone also possibly being the common South corner of the Flores and Porter Surveys. THENCE N 40000' W 2215.5 feet with said city limits line to corner near the South bank of the San Gabriel River. THENCE downstream with the present city limits line and the meanders of the river, to a point in the center of the river at the upstream edge of the low water bridge, N 52°08' E 1865.2 feet from the last described corner. THENCE N 59.00' E 100.0 feet with the center of the river to a point at or near the present corner of the city limits. THENCE N 360331 W 1205.5 feet, crossing the San Gabriel Park, to corner in the North line of the Old Weir Road in the South line of an entension of the city limits. THENCE S 85.34' E 949.8 feet with the North li e of the -Old Weir Road and the South line of a 8.06 acre tract owned by Sweetbr%ar Nursing Home to a bend in said road at the SE corner of said Sweetbriar Nurs%ng Home tract, also a corner of the present city limits. THENCE S HO W E 64.6 feet, crossing the road to a 28 inch live oak_, marking same with an X on the West side. THENCE S 22045' W 252.9 feet and S 07002' E 301.9 feet with the fence along the East line of the Park Road. THENCE S 25032'30" E 164.9 feet to the NW corner of the 15.72 acre tract in the center of the river, N 59*00' E 390.0 feet from the point on the upstream edge of the low water bridge. THENCE N W 45' E 668.33 feet, N 43°15' E 683.33 feet, N 76°34' E 348.06 feet, N 88058' E 216.94 feet, S 73°58' E 273.7 feet and S 49'OV E 611.3 feet downstream with, the center of the river to a point in the Northwestwardly Right of Way line of the MK&T Railroad. THENCE S 43016' W 626.85 feet with said Right of Way line to the beginning of a curve to the left with a radius of 5779.65 feet and a central angle of 06°34'. THENCE S 36042' W 3120..27 feet with said Right of Way line to the POINT OF BEGINNING. STATE OF TEXAS X KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: COUNTY OF WILLIAMSON I, W. F. FOREST, do hereby certify that I did survey the above described tract on the ground and that said description is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
