HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_CVB_07.08.1991GEORGETOWN CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU BOARD MEETING, JULY 8, 1991 MINUTES The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Bill Lipscomb. Other members, staff and guests present were Juanema Keys, Joan King, Eugenia Harrell, Ken McCalla, Skip Morse, Ken Williams, Hartley Sappington, Liz Taylor, Betty Hall - Pony Baseball, Gene Taylor - Palace Theatre, Pam Coots 7 Ramada Inn. Lipscomb welcomed new Board member, Ken Williams, representing Southwestern University. Minutes from the June 5 meeting were approved on a motion from Joan King, second from Ken McCalla, unanimous vote. Betty Hall from Pony/Colt Baseball presented a funding request for a $530 grant to pay for the appreciation dinner for the players and coaches on July 19. Some discussion followed. Action: Keys made motion to grant funding request, McCalla seconded, motion passed unanimously. Gene Taylor presented request from Palace Theatre, Inc., requesting a $15,000 loan and/or grant for continued remodeling of theatre building. McCalla disqualified himself from voting since he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Palace. Morse made motion to grant Palace $5,000, and allow them a $10,000 loan to be repaid within 3 years; funds to come from Contingency monies; Harrell seconded. Motion passed with 5 votes in favor, 1 abstention (McCalla), none opposed. Discussion followed on the Governance Workshop, Linkage with the Community and the Ends which the C & VB Board want to accomplish over the next three to five years. Because of upcoming deadlines from City Hall on the Ends and Means statements required from this Board, in order to plan the budget for next fiscal year, there will be a special called meeting of this Board on Monday, July 22 - location to be determined. Meeting notices will be delivered prior to the meeting. Taylor presented Director's Report. King brought up questions on the Dining & Entertainment Guide for Georgetown. Discussion followed.
