HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_CVB_05.07.1991GEORGETOWN CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU MINUTES MAY 7, 1991 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Sharon Rowley. The following Board members, staff and guests were present: Sharon Rowley, Alan Battersby, Bill Lipscomb, Joan King, Kenneth McCalla, Eugenia Harrell, Juanema Keys, Hartley Sappington, Liz Taylor, Sharon Larson - Comfort Inn. MINUTES from the April meeting were approved on a motion from King, second from McCalla, unanimous vote. CHANGE OF MEETING DATE & TIME: discussion on this item with the next meeting date being scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 7:00 p.m., and if first Wednesday is convenient for all this could become regular meeting time. REPORTS: Rowley discussed creating a standing committee to address guidelines and approval for advertising and promotion by the Bureau. Committee volunteers were Battersby, Harrell, Keys and Rowley. Possibly will amend by-laws to reflect the presence of this standing committee so that continuity can be maintained from year to year. Taylor reported on May Fair and Christmas Stroll. Harrell reported on Parks Plan Committee. King reported on Grace Church. PERSONNEL: Taylor presented request to modify the original contract with Georgetown Industrial Foundation to include additional monies to cover insurance benefits and salary increase for Secretary which is shared by Bureau and GIF. Keys made motion to allott $2100 additional monies to provide for insurance and benefits for Secretarial position which Bureau shares with GIF for remainder of fiscal year, or as long as we share this position with GIF. Harrell seconded motion, motion carried unanimously. Council will need to approve contract amendment. BUDGET DISCUSSION: Discussed need to do long-range strategic planning and determine where we want to be in 3 yrs., 5 yrs., etc., and to plan for 91-92 budget goals and objectives. Battersby, King, Rowley, Keys, Lipscomb expressed interest in this planning. Battersby to be out of town after May 23, for the rest of month; King to be out of town after May 14, for the rest of month. June 5 meeting - set up budget goals & objectives planning meeting with task force. NEW BUSINESS: Discussion on Georgetown Advertisers commercials (5) which were produced two years ago -- where are they? can we use them in our advertising? Board agreed this could be discussed in budget planning. Meeting Adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
