Long-range: Our long-range goal is providing quality library service to the Georgetown community. This includes not only furnishing current reading material, but also complete reference material and data in a condusive environment. b. For this year: Assist the City Council in the construction of a new library building. 6. Accomplishment/activities during current year: Our committee has been working very hard to locate a site for a new library building for dealing with the space problems currently existing. We received Council approval to select an architect, and the Council also donated a tract of land for a new site. 7. Flans for your committee's work next year: Continue with our building program and oversee the construction of the new building. 8. Does your committee have recommendations for City Council Action? If so, what? Our committee recommends that the City Council call a bond election for the issuance of revenue bonds for the construction of the new library building. We also recommend that the City acquire the remain- ing tract of land in the northwest quarter of the City property so that the entire block can be used for the library building. 9. Will your committee be requesting any city expenditures for the 1986-87 budget year? If so, please be prepared to submit them to the City Manager no later than May, 1986. Yes 10. Does your committee want to make a regular report at a City Council Meeting? If yes, would you like it scheduled annually, semi-annually or more often. We will be happy to do so. 11. Does your committee have any questions ideas or 2 recommendations for the city staff and/or the City Council? We would again recommend to the Council that a bond election be conducted in connection with the City elections in April for raising funds for a new library building. :Y Any additional comments would be welcome.
