C6102 l _C1 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS AND DECLARING THE ELECTION RESULTS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 1, 2021 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTION COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR DISTRICTS 1 AND 5. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ordered a general election to be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 pursuant Resolution No. 020921-D, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Councilmembers for Districts 2 and 5; WHEREAS, on May 1, 2021, an election was held on the following: To elect a Councilmember from the City of Georgetown Single -member District 1; and to elect a Councilmember from the City of Georgetown Single -member District 5; and WHEREAS, the election officers who held said election have prepared the returns of the results thereof, and the returns have been delivered to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the official canvass of the returns of the election showed the following results: FOR COUNCILMEMBER DISTRICT 1 Amanda Parr 279 60.39% Mary Calixtro 183 39.16% FOR COUNCILMEMBER DISTRICT 5 Jason Righteous Norwood 316 18.87% Kevin Pitts 1,359 81.13% NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, THAT: SECTION I. All of the findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are found to be true and adopted as findings of fact. The City Council officially finds and determines that the election was duly called; that proper notice of the election was given in accordance with law; that the election was held in accordance with law; that returns of the results of the election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has canvassed the returns, all in accordance with the law and the resolution calling the election. SECTION III. The official canvass of the returns, duly and legally made, reflects the following: 1. Amanda Parr was duly elected as Councilmember, District 1. 2. Kevin Pitts was duly elected as Councilmember, District 5. SECTION IV. Therefore, the Councilmembers shall be as follows: OFFICE DATE TERM EXPIRES MAYOR SCHROEDER MAY 2023 DISTRICT 1 COUNCIL MEMBER PARR MAY 2024 DISTRICT 2 COUNCIL MEMBER HOOD MAY 2023 DISTRICT 3 COUNCIL MEMBER TRIGGS MAY 2022 DISTRICT 4 COUNCIL MEMBER FOUGHT MAY 2022 DISTRICT 5 COUNCIL MEMBER PITTS MAY 2024 DISTRICT 6 COUNCIL MEMBER JONROWE MAY 2023 DISTRICT 7 COUNCIL MEMBER GONZALEZ MAY 2022 SECTION V. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the City Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located outside of City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice was posted and remained posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the scheduled time of the meeting. A copy of the posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes.
