"Casual Dress Friday": The Committee had several comments regarding wearing casual
dress on Fridays. Everyone considered this a "wonderful" idea for both comfort and employee
moral. They recommended that the casual dress should not be ragged, faded or worn. The
policy should address uniformed employee as well as office employees. Members of the
committee reported varying tolerance for the practice within their own divisions.
The subject of culottes was brought up and Committee members felt that they would not
be appropriate for the workplace. All Committee member felt that some sort of dress code
guideline should be drafted and that the inconsistency of employee attire in different departments
is "unfair" (e.g. some departments can wear jeans in the office, others cannot). The Committee
decided that this issue should be brought before the Employee Benefits Committee and that an
employee survey would be a great idea in addition to discussion by Division Directors.
Employee Benefits Committee: The Committee is curious to know what happened
to the Employee Benefits Committee. They felt that the committee was very important to City
employees and should be brought back and/or meet more often.
"Friendly Service" Letterhead: The Committee received a suggestion to have the
"Friendly Service Georgetown Style" motto to be added to the City's letterhead. Committee
members will give further comments at the next meeting.
