HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_MSTAB_06.11.2021Minutes of a Meeting of the Main Street Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas Friday, June 11, 2021 The Main Street Advisory Board met on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 9:00 AM at Georgetown City Hall Community Room, 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Christine Tomaszewski called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM. Members: Christine Tomaszewski, Kate Hill, Dave Wilks, Lauren Mendoza, Michele Jaroszewski-Webb, Bobby Weisbrod (Virtual) and Aaron Adams were in attendance. Absent - Staff in attendance: Kim McAuliffe, Downtown Development Manager, Sharon Parker, Board Liaison (virtual). Guests in attendance: None Regular Session (This regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) A. Call to order at 9:05 a.m. B. Consideration and possible action regarding approval of the May 14, 2021 board meeting minutes — Christine Tomaszewski, Board Chair Motion by K. Hill to approve the minutes as presented. Second by M. Jaroszewski-Webb. Approved: 7-0 C. Discussion on Project Teams, Partner updates, and BRE visits a. Breakfast Bites — June 3rd, Britin was the speaker talking about Georgetown's history. We had a really good crowd. We are ramping back up to it, hopefully by September we will be able to get back to coffee and snacks. b. Blazin' Beer Crawl — Date August 7'h, 3-6 p.m. Ticket sales are going well, we have already sold 25% of the tickets in the first week. Working on getting a few more Breweries. We have 6 now and a goal of 12. c. Labor Day sidewalk sale — we will schedule a meeting soon. Send out information to businesses for sign up. d. Partner updates — Chambers president has resigned, in the process of searching for new President/CEO. Working on Downtown incentives. Arts & Culture board — took action to do some new banners for Downtown, they are going to highlight some of the culture district. Very colorful and positive messages on them. They also have two murals that are in the works. One is the Georgetown HS that is going up tomorrow. It promotes kindness. It is going to go on the side of Tejas Meat Market. What's cool about this project is it's the first of many. They will continue to work with GISD and give the students opportunities to have their artwork selected. At the end of this month the other will be on the back side of Georgetown Title. Preservation Georgetown are kicking off their grant program. e. BRE visits — K. McAuliffe met with Lark & Owl and Wag Heaven, both are doing well. D. Staff Report — Kim McAuliffe, Downtown Development Manager Public engagement event — went very well, we had over 900 people take the survey. Update on Council Goals, Kim will email a copy to the board. Fagade sign grant program — City Council approved 15t reading for our one time addition to our funds. New developments: Good folks, Grow Salon opened, City post still planned for end of June. Reception for Rachel Hancock today June 11 m 4-6 pm. At the Library No meeting in July Adjourn Motion by C. Tomaszewski to adjourn the meeting. Second by, D. Wilks. The meeting was adjourned at 9:32 AM.
