Meeting Minutes
February 11, 2021
The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met virtually Thursday, February 11, 2021.
Regular Session — To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm.
(This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene at Executive Session for any purpose authorized
by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551).

Members Present: Ned Atkins, Bart Bartleson, William Gregory, Laura Klein Plunkett, Melissa Sheldon, Sa-
rah Vigil

Meeting called to order at 6:04 PM by Melissa Sheldon
1. Discussion on how this virtual conference will be conducted, to include options for public comments
and how the public may address the Commission — April Haughey (Board Liaison)
a. April detailed the ways the public can engage with the meeting, told members that roll call votes
would be conducted, and instructed members to "raise their hand" to speak and to identify them-
selves first.
2. Presentation of Animal Services Statistics for January 2021 — April Haughey, Animal Services Man-
ager (Board Liaison)
a. 97.2% live release rate for December. 70 pets adopted, including 3 barn cats.
b. 15.4% return to owner, down from previous month.
c. 70 intakes, down from 77 last month. 5 euthanasias due to illness, injury and behavior.
d. Average LOS 9.09 days. April pointed out that without RTO included, manually calculating the
number of intake to adoption days for dogs results in 20.6 days and 13.7 days for cats. April is
working with Chameleon to find out if there is a way to capture intake to adoption data systemically.
e. 250 ACO calls, increased from January.
f. 42 Dog at Large/Nuisance calls, up from 29 in January.
3. Presentation of status of current facilities projects — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board
Liaison)
a. Downspout water diversion project is complete.
a. HVAC bids received; implementation scheduled for March/April timeframe.
b. Other outstanding projects are still in queue.
c. Friends of the Georgetown Animal Shelter has ramped up fundraising support with their participa-
tion in Amplify Austin. The donation page is up and donations are coming in.
4. Presentation of current staffing circumstances — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liai-
son)
a. The newest ACO has completed training and neighborhood and park patrols have increased.
b. The pending employment offer for an ACO candidate was rescinded. A new posting will be opened.
c. The veterinarian candidate's desired work hours do not meet the shelter's needs. Some compromise
may be needed. April will reevaluate the needs and discuss with the City.
d. City is requiring reporting and testing of any staff member with COVID-like symptoms.
5. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from January, 2021 — Melissa Sheldon, Board
Chair
a. Minutes were read by members. Motion to approve, Bill Gregory. Seconded, Ned Atkins. Ap-
proved unanimously.
With no further business or discussion, Ned Atkins made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Bill Gregory.
