HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_10.14.2021City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes October 14, 2021 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met in person Thursday, October 14, 2021. Regular Session — To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene at Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551). Presentation of Animal Services Statistics for July, August, and September 2021—April Haughey, Ani- mal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. 335 total intakes for last three months:151 dogs, including 27 puppies; and 184 cats, including 131 kittens. b. 1308 total intakes for this FY, compared to 1384 previous FY. 46% adoption rate included 301 dogs and 335 cats, with 31 barn cats. c. 95.7% LRR for FY. d. 2104 licenses purchased, 3569 ACO calls, 153 bites, and 177 cruelty investigations for FY. e. Despite staffing challenges, intentional messaging continued to be a focus with 233 for the FY. 6. Presentation of current staffing updates — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. There is one current ACO position open and one tech position open. Jobs were posted in September but no viable candidates yet. April highlighted region -wide Animal Services staffing issues. b. Shelter veterinarian has given notice with intent to leave mid -January due to growth of her personal surgical practice and consultancy business. April is looking at all options to continue to have vet coverage. 7. Presentation of facilities project updates — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. The vet pointed out that the cat area has a strong ammonia odor, which is not healthy for humans or cats. The Friends are contributing $1 OK for an exhaust fan for the area. Shelving for treatment room is also planned.
