MEMBERS PRESENT: Stephanie Blanck, Rachel Cummins, Christy Fisher, Blake Triplet, Jim Wilson MEMBERS ABSENT: Karen Soeffker STAFF PRESENT: Cari Miller, CVB Tourism Manager Rachel White, Group Sales Coordinator GUEST: Elaine Hall, Sheraton Austin-Georgetown 1. Welcome/Call to order at 8:36 AM– Jim Wilson, CVB Board Vice- Chair Legislative Regular Session 2. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the November 11, 2021, meeting minutes - Jim Wilson, CVB Board Vice- Chair Motion by Fisher, second by Triplet to approve the November 11 meeting minutes. Approved 5-0 3. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Conference and Meeting Grant for the Texas State Historical Association (February 26 - March 1, 2025) - Cari Miller, CVB Tourism Manager Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center the group is eligible for up to $2,500. Grant funds will be used to offset a portion of the expenses of the conference. Motion by Cummins, second by Fisher to approve the grant application for a maximum reimbursement of $2,500. Approved 4-0 (Triplet abstained) 4. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Conference and Meeting Grant for the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts Annual Conference (January 19-22, 2023) - Cari Miller, CVB Tourism Manager Based upon the number of room nights projected at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center the group is eligible for up to $2,500. Grant funds will be used to offset a portion of the expenses of the conference. Georgetown is competing with Austin area hotels for this business. 2/10/2022 Motion by Blanck, second by Cummins to approve the grant application for a maximum reimbursement of $2,500. Approved 4-0 (Triplet abstained) 5. Staff Report - Cari Miller, Tourism Manager • Hotel occupancy tax revenue continues to increase to pre-pandemic numbers. May 2021 – December 2021 Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue is 15.3% higher that May – December 2019. • Red Poppy Festival will be held on April 22 – 24. Jack Ingram will be the Saturday evening headliner. Will add corn hole tournament and pet parade.
