HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_GTEU_08.18.2022Minutes of the Meeting for the Georgetown Electric Utility Board Thursday, August 18th at 4:00 PM at the Williamson Room at Georgetown Municipal Complex, 300-1 Industrial Ave. Georgetown, TX 78626 Board Members Present: Robert Case – Chairman, Rick Woodruff – Vice-Chairman, Sam Jones – Secretary, Ben Butler, Mike Triggs Board Members Absent: None Staff Present: David Morgan, Daniel Bethapudi, Leigh Wallace, Elaine Wilson, Mark Palmer, Daniel McReynolds, Mike Westbrook, Cindy Pospisil, Jennifer Flor, Richard Pajestka, Jose Espinoza Torres, Kress Carson, and Noah Fry Public Attendees: None Regular Session (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) A. Call to Order - Meeting called to order at 4:00 pm by Case - Roll Call of Board Members – All Present B. Introduction of Visitors - None Present C. Public Wishing to Address the Board - None D. Review and Approval of Minutes from 7/21/2022 Meeting MOTION by Triggs to approve 7/21/22 Minutes, second by Butler. Approved 5-0 E. General Manager’s Monthly Report – Daniel Bethapudi, General Manager of Electric Utility - Cindy Pospisil presented the monthly Customer Service and Billing updates regarding Electric Services. Pospisil reviewed Customer Statistics, Billing Statistics, Electric Revenue, Aged Receivables, and newest Collection Agency Report. o Butler asks if the Utility captures data regarding how much energy is put back into the Grid via Net Metering. Bethapudi responds that we can have the data available for the next Board Meeting. - Mike Westbrook presented the Electric Operations Report. Westbrook reviewed latest Operations Performance Metrics and the Top Five Outages & Events. - Mike Westbrook, on behalf of Danny Potter, presented the Electric Safety and Training Report. Westbrook reviewed the current status of the Apprentice program as well as Training and Safety statistics. Legislative Session F. Consideration and possible recommendation to renew the Annual Electric System Underground Construction and Maintenance Contract for labor services to Pedro S.S. Services, Inc. in the not to exceed amount of $2,000,000.00 – Mike Westbrook, Electric Operations Manager - Westbrook presented the item. MOTION to approve by Jones, second by Butler Approved 5-0. G. Consideration and possible recommendation to renew the annual Tree Trimming and Vegetation Management Contract with Townsend Tree Service LLC. in the estimated amount not to exceed of $300,000.00 – Mike Westbrook, Electric Operations Manager - Westbrook presented the item. - MOTION to approve by Jones, second by Woodruff Approved 5-0 Bethapudi provided update on the Inflation Reduction Act and how it affects Georgetown Electric Utility. McReynolds provided update on how the Utility is managing the challenge of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and the charging demand effects. Board moved into Executive Session at 4:46 PM Executive Session (In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's Texas Codes, Annotated, the items listed below were discussed in closed session and are subject to action in the regular session.)
