HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_MSTAB_06.17.2022Minutes of a Meeting of the Main Street Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas Friday, June 17, 2022 The Main Street Advisory Board met on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 9:00 AM at Georgetown City Hall Community Room, 808 Martin Luther King Jr. St. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Christine Tomaszewski called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM. Members: Christine Tomaszewski, Michele Jaroszewski-Webb, Lauren Mendoza, Trisha Tallman, and Jennifer Ridings-Myhra were in attendance. Absent — Bobby Weisbrod and Rachel Cummins Staff in attendance: Kim McAuliffe, Downtown Development Manager, Sharon Parker, Board Liaison, Gian Carlo Domingo, Economic Development Intern, and Zion Phillip, Economic Development Intern, Guests in attendance: None Regular Session (This regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) A. Call to order at 9:05 a.m B Consideration and possible action regarding approval of the April 8, 2022, board meeting minutes — Christine To naszewski, Board Chair Motion by M. Jaroszewski-Webb to approve the minutes as presented. Second by C. Tomaszewski Approved: 5-0 C. Consideration and possible action regarding approval of the May 12, 2022, board meeting minutes — Christine Tomaszewski, Board Chair Motion by T. Tallman to approve the minutes as presented. Second by M. Jaroszewski-Webb Approved: 5-0 D. Discussion and possible action on a Main Street Sign Grant application request for Therapie Boutique located at 308 W. 8I'Street - Kim McAuliffe, Downtown DevelopmentManager Staff reported on the request for a sign grant with planned improvements to include adding a new hanging blade sign on the building made of 11-gauge metal with laser cut graphics on both sides. The applicant has selected J&R CNC Services to perform the required work for the sign Fabrication and installation. The estimate provided by applicant totals $550 and applicant seeks a grant For the maximum award they are eligible For of 50% or $275. Motion by T. Tallman _ to approve an award of $275, as determined by the maximum award Second by _ J. Ridings-Myhra = Approved: 5-0 E. Discussion and possible action on the Economic Development: Downtown Development and Arts and Culture One -Year Workplan- Kim McAuliffe, Downtown Development Manager Kim presented the plan and reviewed the items that the board members signed up for and the items that staff will maintain; Kim added that Marcy with the CVB is going to assist with the Main Street website No action needed F. Discussion on Project Teams, Partner updates, and BRIE visits a. Fundraising —will get started on Christmas ornament soon would like to get photo selected by August. b. Blazin Beer Crawl — Carlo and Zion are helping with this event. We have already received $11,700 in sponsorship. Top two sponsor places sold. Our goal was $7500. VIP sold out in less than a week. 250 GA left out of 400 tickets. Sharon is also helping and leading the VIP area. We are meeting at Union Merchant today to work on layout. c. Trucks and Tunes -- Zion has taken the lead on this event; it will be held at the City Center this Thursday. We will have entertainers, food trucks and games. d. BRE Visits -- no visits this month e. Partner update — Michelle — Shontel Mays has been hired as the new CEO and President of the Georgetown Chambers of Commerce. G. Staff Report — Kim McAuliffe, Downtown Development Manager Developments — No new developments same as last month - Union Merchant and The Little Lemon at the Library. No meeting in July, next meeting will be August 121h Motion by C. Tomaszewski to adjourn the meeting. Second by, T. Tallman .
