AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET
SUBJECT Ordering the General Election to be held on May 7, 1994, and appointing election officials.
ITEM SUMMARY As required by State Law, the attached resolution orders our General Election of
May 7, 1994.
As last year, election day polling places are the Georgetown Public Library for voters in City
Districts 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7; and the GISD Tax Office for voters in City Districts 4 and 5.
The following people will serve as election officials:
Polling Place A - Georgetown Public Library
Election Judge: Mary A. Herrera, 1503 Long Branch Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78626
Alternate Judge: Mary T. Giesecke, 1607 Pecan Street, Georgetown, Texas 78626
Polling Place B - GISD Tax Office
Election Judge: Kathleen Leedy, 137 Canyon Road, Georgetown, Texas 78628
Alternate Judge: Kenneth Jones, 1808 Dawn Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628
Early Voting at City Hall will be conducted from April 18, 1994, through May 3, 1994, Bob
Schrawger will act as the Main Early Voting Clerk for the first week of early voting. In response to the
goals set forward by the Council during the preparation of the Operating Plan, this year we will also
conduct Branch Early Voting at the Board Room in the GISD Administration Building, 603 Lakeway
Drive, Georgetown, Texas- 78628.
Mr. Ken Jones will be the Branch Early Voting Clerk. As required by Sec. 85.063 of the
Election Code, the hours for Branch Early Voting will be the same as for the Main Early Voting
Location. (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Upon Council approval, the Legal Department will send a letter to the Justice Department to pre -
clear an additional voting location.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Texas Election Code has raised the amount allowed to pay election officials to $6.00 per
hour. The wages for the Branch Early Voting Clerk will be $672.00 (14 days x 8 hours x $6.00/hour)
