AMENDING CHAPTER 12 BY ADDING A NEW SECTION, 12.1.3.11 AMENDING SECTION
12.1.4 AND AMENDING CIL4PTE'R 22, SECTION 22.2.2
BE 11' ORDAINED that the Plumbing Code of the City of Georgetowny Texas; en-
acted October 141 1963, is hereby amended as follows:
Section 1. of this amendment
Chapter 12 of said Plumbing Code, "MATEUIALS - QUALITY AND WEIGHT" is hereby
amended by adding thereto the following:
"12.1.3.1 Nothwithstanding anything in said Plumbing Code it is pereby
provided that plastic pipe and fittings may .be installed as hereinafter
provided and3such pipe and fittings shall be approved by the City Council
acting by and through its plumbing inspector. Such plastic pipe may be
used for drain, waste, vents, building and/or house sewers, indirect waste
and storm drains, throughout all types of buildings. Such pipe shall be
schedule 40 AIB36 or PVC, 1AVV as specified in Commercial Standard 270-65
or 272-65. Pipe and fittings shall be identified as provided in the above.
Standard and shall bear the seal of the National Sanitation Foundation.
Pipe for storm drains and indirect wastes will meet the requirements of
CS 207-60 for PV& or CS 218-59 for ABS,j All plastic pipe and fittings
shall be marked as follows:

Markings shall be visible for inspection on both Pipe and Fittings
of PVC and ABS
All underground piping within buildings shall be imbedded in six (6)
C-7 inches of sand below, above, and to both sides of the pipe. The Plumbing
Inspector of the City of Georgetown may determine at any time if additional.
protection is necessary. Such pipe materials shall be used in accordance
with manufacturers' recommended practices and procedures, but in no case
shall they be less restrictive than as outlined in Commercial Standard
272-65-270-65 or the recommendations of the National Sanitation Foundation
Standards. Provisions of the expansion and support of the pipe shall be
as recommended by these standards.''

Section 2. Of this Amendment
Section 12.1.4 "MATERIALS AND USES:" is hereby amended so as to include
within the uses permitted for "plastic pipe, minimum schedule 40" shall be
as follows:
Building Sewer, Outside
Building Drain
Soil Stack
Drainage Branches
Vent Sack
Vent Branches
Building to Storm Sewer
Building to Storm Drain
Special Wastes
Indirect bastes
Section 3. of this Amendment
Chapter 22 "GAS LU1 L`dG", Sub -section 2.2.2 under General Regulations
captioned "Outside Gas Lights" is hereby amended to read as follows:
22.2.2 Outside Gas Lights: Type "K" copper tubing may be used for
underground piping in outside gas light installation. Polyethylene
plastic pipe or tubing conforming with specification AS UM D23-67
Standards Specification for Thermoplastic gas pressure pipe,
tubing and fittings, may also be used for conveying natural gas
underground to outside appliances such as gas lights and grills.
The material shall be Polyethylene, Type III Grade 3 Class C
(PE3 06) and'Type II, Grade 3 Class B (PE2306), ASTM Stand D1 48-68.
Said materials shall be installed in accordance with -ANSI Standard
Code for pressure piping B 3 .8-1968 Edition.
Section 4. of this Amendment
If any provision of this Amendment to the Plumbing Code, or the application'
thereof o any person or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder o
this amendment, and the application of such provisions to other persons
or circumstances, sall not be affected thereby. All ordinances or portions
of ordinances in conflict". herewith are hereby repealed.
