AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR FIRE LIMITS, AND REGULATIONS GOVEIINING
TIM CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, REMOVAL, DMOLITION, EQUIPMENT,
USE JIND OCCUPANCY, LOCATION AND MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS AND
STRUCTURES.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Williamson County,
Texas:
Section 4. DUTIES OF BUILDING OFFICIAL
(a) lie shall receive applications required by this code, issue permits and
furnish the prescribed certificates. He shall examine the premises for which per-
mits have been issued and shall make necessary inspections to see that the provisions
of law are complied with and that construction is prosecuted safely. lie shall
enforde all provisions of the building code. Ile shall, when requested by proper
authority or'; hen the public interest so requires, make investigations in connection
with matters referred to in the building code and render written reports on the same.
To enforce compliance with law, to remove illegal or unsafe conditions, to secure
the necessary safeguards during constructinri,or to require adequate exit facilities
in buildings and structures, he shall issue such notices or orders as may be necessary.

(b) Inspections required under the provisions of the uilding code
shall be made by the building official or his duly appointassistant.
The building official may accept reports of inspectors of r,cognized inspect-
ion services, after investigation of their qualifications ad reliability.
No certificate called for by any provision of the building !,ode shall be issued
on such reports unless the same are in writing and certific to by a re-
sponsible officer of such service.
(e) The building official shall keep comprehensive rords of appli-
cations of permits issued, of certificates issued, of inspetions made,
of reports rendered, and of notices or orders issued.
(d) All such records shall be open to public inspecti:n for good and
sufficient reasons at the stated office hours, but shall nol be removed
from the office of the building official without his writte consent.
(e) The building official shall make written reports lo his immediate
superior once each month, or oftener if requested, in cludi g statements of
permits and certificates issued, and orders promulgated.
Section 5. LIABILITY.
Any officer or employee, or member of the Board of AdjIstments and
Appeals, charged with the enforcement of this code, acting ?"or the City in
the discharge of his duties, shall not thereby render himsef', f liable person-
ally, and he is hereby relieved from all personal liability1for any damage
that may accrue to persons or property as a result of any a I I required or
permitted in the discharge of his duties. Any suit brought v,igainst any officer
or employee because of such act performed by him in enforcelent of any

provision of this code shall be defended by the Department fil Law until the
final termination of the proceddings.
Section 6. RIGHT OF ENTRY.
The building official, in the discharge of his officia, duties, and
upon proper identification, shall have authority to enter a y building, struct-
ure or premises at any reasonable hour.
Section 7. DEFINITIONS.
(a) Wherever the word "Municipality" is used in the blilding code,
it shall be held to mean the City of Georgetown, Texas.
(b) Wherever the term "Corporation Counsel" is used ii the building
code, it shall be held to mean the Attorney for the City of Georgetown, Texas.

Section 9. SAVING CLAUSE.

Section 10. VALIDITY.
The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordnance or of the
building code hereby adopted shall not invalidate other see ions or provisions
thereof.
Section 11. INCONSISTENT ORDININCES, li1EPEALED.
Ordinances or parts thereof in force at the time that :his ordinance
shall take effect and inconsistent herewith, are hereby rep.aled.
Section 12. AMENDMENTS MADE IN SAID CODE.
The Code adopted hereby is amended as follows:
(a) By deleting the following: Para. (a) (d),(e) (g) and (m) of
section 36.6 of said code.
(b) By adopting Appendix A,B, and C of the National Building Code 1969
Edition Abbreviated pertaining to the fire prevention code and publications
listed thereafter shall be used as a guide for standards, aq far as same are
not in conflict with the requirements of the Fire Marshall if the State of Texas.
