Meeting Minutes
January 12, 2023
The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met in person Thursday, January 12, 2023.
Regular Session – To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm.
(This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene at Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551).
The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you require assistance in participating at a public meeting due to a disability,

Meeting called to order at 6:01 PM by Amanda Parr
Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from July, 2022 — Amanda Parr, Board Chair
Board members signified that they had read the minutes and had no corrections. Motion to approve the minutes for July as presented, Ned Atkins. Seconded, Chad Harris. Motion passed
unanimously.
Presentation of Animal Services Statistics for FY22 year end and Dec. 2022 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
Jack Daly, on behalf of April, presented the December and year end statistics.
2022’s LRR was 94.1%, with 694 adoptions, 263 RTO, and 80 euthanasia. LOS 15.51 average. ACO calls 4131, 559 over previous year.
Staffing and Operational Updates — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
8 new modular kennels, which can be relocated to another site, have been purchased and installed.
Staffing turnover and shortages resulted in operational changes, including Sunday closure, shorter hours Monday and Friday, and scheduling owner surrenders four weeks out combined with
providing them rehoming resources. Since statute requires a shelter employee to be on the Board, April will now be a Board Member.
PT employees have been hired at increased pay levels.
Other operations improvements include new kennel floors and drain grates with help from FOGAS. A new security gate, play yard dividers, fire system upgrades, and a commercial dishwasher
were purchased and installed. Medical supply costs have increased about 200%.

Discussions are ongoing with WCRAS on a possible merger. Since Georgetown may be a significant percentage of intakes, there is much to consider at WCRAS and in Georgetown regarding financial
obligations and facility impact.
