A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
("CITY") AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN ALL
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR THE SUBMITTAL OF THE
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT GRANT APPLICATION
TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, THE City of Georgetown, by and through its City Council, seeks always io protect the
health, safely and welfare of the citizens of the City of Georgetown and adjoining areas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, is committed 10 ensuring that all students who attend school in
the City of Georgetown, can utilize physically active transportation, such as walking and bicycling, for
safe and enjoyable trip to school; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, and the Georgetown Independent School District have
undertaken to obtain a grant from the Texas Safe Route to School program, to provide infrastructure
to the city and to school campuses to ensure and encourage students to walk or bicycle io school;
and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1, That the statements set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
things approved and adopted.
Section 2. The Mayor is herein authorized to submit a grant application to the Texas
Department of Transportation for a Safe Routes to School Project.
Section 3. If the grant is approved, the documents will be submitted to the City Council for
approval.
