A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS ("GEORGETOWN") RELEASING
APPROXIMATELY 22.19 ACRES OF LAND FROM THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN'S EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION ("ETJ"),
SAID LAND BEING GENERALLY LOCATED NORTH OF STATE
HIGHWAY 29 AND WEST OF WILLIAMS DRIVE, WILLIAMSON
COUNTY, TEXAS, RESULTING IN A REDUCTION OF
GEORGETOWN'S ETJ; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on October 11, 2023, the City of Georgetown, Texas, received a petition requesting
release from its ETJ of a 22.19 acre tract of land in the A.H. Porter Survey (the "Petition"), a true
and correct copy of such Petition being attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by
reference; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Subchapter D of Chapter 42 of Local Government Code, landowners or
residents may submit a petition seeking release of an area of land from the City's ETJ; and
WHEREAS, the City Secretary has reviewed the Petition and confirmed that it meets the
requirements of Subchapter D of Chapter 42 of the Local Government Code and the petition
requirements of Chapter 277 of the Election Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ("City Council"), does hereby
find that the forgoing recitals are true and correct and adopts the recitals by this reference for all
purposes.
SECTION 2: The City Council does hereby adjust the boundaries and limits of the ETJ of the
City of Georgetown, Texas, such that the ETJ of the City of Georgetown, Texas, shall be and is
hereby adjusted to release and remove the Area subject to the Petition, as such Area is more
particularly described and depicted in Exhibit B attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference, from the ETJ of the City of Georgetown, Texas.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.

Extraterritorial Jurisdiction; made by Rhonda and Bruce Carnley (the "Landowner")
Dear Ms. Densmore:
Our firm represents the Landowner. As you may know, Section 42.102 of the Texas Local
Government Code (as added by Senate Bill 2038 in the 88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session,
effective September 1, 2023 (the "Act")) permits a resident of an area in the City's extraterritorial
jurisdiction to file a petition with the City for the area to be released from the City's extraterritorial
jurisdiction. In accordance with the provisions of the Act, please find enclosed a Petition for the
Release of Land from the City of Georgetown's Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (the "Petition").
Pursuant to Section 42.105, the Petition shall be verified by the City Secretary of the City
or other person responsible for verifying signatures. If upon conclusion of this review, the City
determines that the Petition contains the number of signatures required under Section 42.104, the
City shall notify (i) the residents and landowners of the area described by the Petition, or (ii) the
person who filed the Petition, of the results thereof, and the Land (defined in the Petition) shall be
immediately released from the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction.
Please note that if the City fails to take timely action to release the Land, then the Land
shall be released by operation of law in accordance with Section 42.105(d).

PETITION FOR THE RELEASE OF LAND FROM THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN'S
EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION
THE STATE OF TEXAS
CITY OF GEORGETOWN
TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN
The undersigned petitioners (the "Petitioners"), acting pursuant to the provisions of
Chapter 42, Texas Local Government Code (as amended, the "Act"), request that the City of
Georgetown, Texas (the "City"), release the territory depicted and described in Exhibit A, attached
hereto (the "Land"), from the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction, and in support of this petition (this
"Petition") the Petitioner would present the following:
Section 1. Standing of Petitioners. Pursuant to Section 42.102 of the Act, Petitioners are (1) a
resident of the Land, or (2) the owner or owners of the majority in value of the Land, which consists
of one or more parcels of land in the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction.
Section 2. Petition Requirements. Pursuant to Section 42.104(a) of the Act, the signers of this
Petition constitute: (i) more than 50 percent of the registered voters of the Land as of the date of
the preceding uniform election date; or (ii) a majority in value of the holders of title of the Land,
as indicated by the tax rolls of the Williamson Central Appraisal District.
Section 3. Signatures. The signature requirements of Section 1 were satisfied not later than the
180th day after the date the first signature for this Petition was obtained.
Section 4. Land to be Released. The boundaries of the Land to be released from the City's
extraterritorial jurisdiction are depicted and described on Exhibit A, attached hereto.
The signers of this Petition request the Land be released from the City's extraterritorial
jurisdiction and that this Petition will be filed with the City Secretary of the City in support thereof.
