A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS ("GEORGETOWN") RELEASING
APPROXIMATELY 5.154 ACRES OF LAND ALONG WITH A 0.74 ACRE
ACCESS EASEMENT FROM THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN'S
EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION ("ETJ"), SAID LAND BEING
GENERALLY LOCATED NORTH OF FM 971 AND EAST OF
INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 35 WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS,
RESULTING IN A REDUCTION OF GEORGETOWN'S ETJ; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on March 4, 2024, the City of Georgetown, Texas, received a petition requesting release
from its ETJ of an approximately 5.154-acre tract of land along with a 0.74 acre access easement in
the Antonio Flores Survey (the "Petition"), a true and correct copy of such Petition being attached
hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Subchapter D of Chapter 42 of Local Government Code, landowners or
residents may submit a petition seeking release of an area of land from the City's ETJ; and
WHEREAS, the City Secretary has reviewed the Petition and confirmed that it meets the
requirements of Subchapter D of Chapter 42 of the Local Government Code and the petition
requirements of Chapter 277 of the Election Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ("City Council"), does hereby
find that the forgoing recitals are true and correct and adopts the recitals by this reference for all
purposes.
SECTION 2: To the extent required by state law, the City Council does hereby adjust the
boundaries and limits of the ETJ of the City of Georgetown, Texas, such that the ETJ of the City
of Georgetown, Texas, shall be and is hereby adjusted to release and remove the Area subject to
the Petition, as such Area is more particularly described and depicted in Exhibit B attached hereto
and incorporated herein by reference, from the ETJ of the City of Georgetown, Texas.
SECTION 3. The City Council is not consenting to this reduction of its ETJ except as required
by state law.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.

Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Section 1, Chapter 42 §42.102(b), Petitioner
hereby respectfully requests disannexation of the above -described property from the City of
Georgetown's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). As required by Texas Local Government Code
Section 1, Chapter 42 § 42.104, petitioner confirms the following:
(1) Petitioner is the sole owner of the area to be released from the extraterritorial
jurisdiction, consisting of one or more parcels of land currently located within the
extraterritorial jurisdiction as required by Texas Local Government Code Section 1,
Chapter 42 § 42.102(b);
(2) Petitioner, as the sole owner of the land, is the sole holder of title of the land in the area
to be disannexed, as indicated by the tax rolls of the Williamson County Appraisal
District, as permitted by Texas Local Government Code Section 1, Chapter 42 §
42.104(a)(2);
(3) Petitioner's written signature upon this document, dated as indicated herein, satisfies
the requirements of Texas Local Government Code Section 1, Chapter 42 § 42.104(b)
and (c);
(4) A map of the land to be released as well as a qualifying legal description pursuant to
Texas Local Government Code Section 1, Chapter 42 §42.104(d) have been included
with this Petition. (See Exhibits "A" & "B"); and
(5) Petitioner notes that no registered voters reside on the property, and therefore,
Petitioner requests voluntary release pursuant to Texas Local Government Code
Section 1, Chapter 42 § 42.156 rather than holding an election under Texas Local
Government Code Section 1, Chapter 42 § 42.153 .
This property currently lies outside the Georgetown city limits but within the 5-mile ETJ.
As such, it is subject to city zoning ordinances and land use regulations. As the property owner,
Petitioner wishes for the property to be released from the ETJ so that it falls fully under the
jurisdiction of Williamson County. The disannexation of this property from Georgetown's ETJ
would allow for greater flexibility in land use and development, and release of the property from
Georgetown's planning and zoning authority is reasonableNgiven the property's distance from the
current city boundaries. Petitioner believes that County oversight is more appropriate for this
property, and therefore requests disannexation of the Property from the ETJ at the Mayor and City
Council's earliest convenience.
