Q5 I LJ,�z{ — 5.L A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS UPDATING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE LEGISLATIVE TASK FORCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY GEORGETOWN. WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown's Intergovernmental Affairs Program advocates, coordinates, and advances the City's legislative agenda to enhance the City's ability to govern and provide essential municipal and community services; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the program is to ensure the City's interests are protected and enhanced through active involvement in the legislative process and strong intergovernmental relationships and to engage community leaders and partners organizations to advocate for the citizens of Georgetown; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 060920-G the City Council created a standing Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee and a Legislative Task Force as part of the City's Intergovernmental Affairs Program to help ensure that the community is engaged and provide opportunities for greater advocacy on behalf of the City; WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to modify the membership of the Legislative Task Force to ensure membership across a broad area of expertise. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT: SECTION 1. The Legislative Task Force is hereby amended to consist of nine members recommended by the Mayor and approved by City Council pursuant to the City Charter. SECTION 2. The Legislative Task Force shall continue to meet during legislative sessions for the following purposes: • Review educational information from City staff, industry leaders, City Lobbyists on legislative sessions, current affairs, and the impact of legislation on City services. • Provide input to the Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee and City staff on proposed legislation • Engage with the community and advocate for the community during the Legislative Session. SECTION 3. All resolutions that conflict with the provisions of this resolution are hereby repealed, and all other resolutions of the City not in conflict with the provisions of this resolution shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4. If any provision of this resolution, or application thereof, to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or Resolution Number: W / aq 5. SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this resolution and the City Secretary to attest. This resolution shall become effective and be in full force and effect immediately in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of the City of Georgetown.
