ITEM SUMMARY:
Fisc al years 2015 and 2016 acc o mp lis hments inc lud e 33 individ ual p ed es trian network projec ts.
Fisc al 2017 ac tivities will als o includ e improvements at 12 loc ations , totaling $576K. S taff has p rep ared a
b udget req ues t to s upport improvements for five loc ations . In the 2016 adopted Transitio n Plan, s taff
id entified Main Street as a p ro ject in 2018, however o ther c ap ital imp ro vements at Main S treet have b een
s hifted to later years and in an effo rt to minimize dis rup tion and maximize effic iency, staff has moved ADA
imp ro vements at Main S treet to F Y19/20.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Provid e positive rec o mmendatio n fo r Public Wo rks s taff p lanning and exec utio n o f ADA Transitio n Plan
fo r FY18 b ud get planning p urposes.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
All financial impac ts fo r F Y17 are includ ed in the bud get whic h was ap p roved S ep tember 2016.

ITEM SUMMARY:
The Geo rgetown Library provid es ac cess to the internet for mo re than 7,000 us ers a month. Library staff is
req uesting $3,000.00 to p urc hase s creen read er s oftware and a lapto p to fac ilitate internet ac cess fo r
p eo p le with vis ual impairments.
JAWS, Job Ac c es s With Sp eech, is the world 's mos t popular sc reen reader, d eveloped fo r c o mp uter
users who s e vis ion los s p revents them from s eeing s creen c o ntent or navigating with a mous e. JAWS
p ro vides s p eec h and Braille output fo r the mos t popular c o mp uter applic atio ns .
Library staff is s eeking end o rs ement from the City’s ADA Bo ard in their FY18 req ues t.
