HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ARTAB_11.14.2023Minutes of the Arts and Culture Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Tuesday, November 14, 2023 The Georgetown Arts and Culture Advisory Board met on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 4:30 PM at City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King, Jr Street. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This is the regular November meeting rescheduled due to the holidays. Regular Session 1.A Call to order Call to order - David Valdez, Board Chair 4:34pm 1.13 Arts & Culture Announcements Announcements - David Valdez, Board Chair • Homes Tour will be the first weekend in December. • South Western's Jazz Band is having a concert on November 28th. • Norma will be collaborating with another artist for a piece for Brookwood's Art Auction in March of 2024. • Opening of the Veteran's Portrait Show and reception. • David visited the Buggy Barn Museum in Blanco where they have an old western town and got to see some of the props they provide for the film industry. • The Palace Theater will be presenting "A Christmas Carol" musical on their Main Stage starting on November 24th and "Sorry Wrong Chimney" will be in the Playhouse starting December 8th. Both productions will end on December 30th. 1.0 Approval of minutes Consideration and approval of the revised August 15, 2023 and September 19, 2023 minutes - David Valdez - Board Chair Moved by Norma J Clark; seconded by Stacy M Reed to Approve . Motion Approved: 6- 0 Voting For: Timothy W Fleming, Norma J Clark, Karen E Turpin, David Valdez, Stacy M Reed, Jaheer T Jones Voting Against: None 1.D Coordinator report Presentation of Arts & Culture Coordinator Report - Amanda Still, Arts & Culture Program Manager Upcoming Projects • There will be a new mural on the Visitor Center and it will hopefully be installed before the Lighting of the Square. • In April the Georgetown Municipal building Earth Day Mural will be opened to a Public Call for Art. • In the spring the 4th installment of the GISD Mural will be created by an Elementary Class. These will hoepfully be presented at the January Arts & Culture meeting. • In late 2024 there will be another Public Call for Art for a mural that will go on the fencing of the City Center Project. • Several murals will be designed for the futural Parking Garage, more information to come on those as that project approaches. • We did not receive funding for the Asphalt Art Work. • The City's Arts & Culture Program has taken a more operational role for the Art Center. And is working to come up with new partnership agreements with the current nonprofit that is currently running the exhibit space. • Georgetown Artworks has dissolved their program. The Exhibit Committee will remain intact and work under the City's Arts & Culture Program. • The Arts & Culture Grant application will be open for the month of December and will be awarded in January. • The first Arts & Culture Program Exhibit will be Print Austin the reception will be on January 13th from 4-6pm. • February will be when the Earth Day Murals will be score and the discussion for the Spring Art Stroll will begin.
