Austin Ave Georgetown, Texas 78626 MINUTES A. Call to Order Board Chair Thomas Janes called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. B. Roll Call Board Members in Attendance: Thomas Janes, Chair; Hannah Pierce, Vice Chair; Alyssa Hyle; Alvin Gusman; Devione Lewis Board Members Absent: Kris Kresser, Taylor Rennie, Jacqueline Massey, Cooper Cash C. Introduction of new Youth Advisory Board members – Ryan Huffman, Youth Program Coordinator Present members introduced themselves. D. Discussion about 2016 Georgetown Youth Voices Summit experiences – GYAB members Members shared their experiences with the Youth Voices Summit. Common responses included enjoyment of youth and adults sharing different opinions. E. Discussion about Pearland YAC Summit experiences – Thomas Janes, Chair and Hannah Pierce, Vice- Chair Thomas Janes shared that many of the youth organizations attending the summit varied greatly in number of members and structure. Hannah Pierce shared that other youth organizations hosted various events and worked with other community organizations. F. Discussion about the use of subcommittees within the Youth Advisory Board – Ryan Huffman, Youth Program Coordinator Discussion of possible subcommittees to work on specific projects. Members discussed some possible ideas including events, trainings, and service projects to host. Discussion also included the need for a logo and a web page for resources for youth. G. Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes from the February 1, 2016 Youth Advisory Board meeting Page 17 of 19 The minutes from the February 1st Youth Advisory Board meeting were approved 5 – 0 – 4. H. Discussion and possible action to host focus groups for continued discussion on topics presented in the 2016 Georgetown Youth Voices Summit – Leslie Janca, Executive Director, The Georgetown Project Leslie Janca discussed the need to offer additional opportunities for youth and adults to continue the discussions that started with the 2016 Youth Voices Summit. Leslie Janca proposed hosting three focus groups on the three main topics highlighted by the summit, utilizing community leaders that have experience in each topic area. The board voted to assist the Georgetown Project with hosting focus groups to continue discussion on topics presented in 2016 Georgetown Youth Voices Summit 5-0-4.
