PRESENT: Jane Estes, Susie Flatau, Tim Fleming, Laura Sewell, Carol Watson, and Linda Wilde. STAFF PRESENT: Sarah Jane Blankenship-Arts and Culture Coordinator, Eric Lashley – Library Services Director, Madison and Lawren Weiss-Administrative Assistant ABSENT: Sharon Snuffer A. Citizens wishing to address the Board. – Jane Estes, Board Chair. None were present. No action required. B. Announcements regarding arts and culture in Georgetown. -Jane Estes, Board Chair. Updates from City staff and board members on the following topics:  Texas Society of Sculptors demos  Georgetown ISD fall concert season begins Oct. 1 with the Tippet Middle School Choir  GISD bond facts sheet (attached)  Mariachi Jalisco performance in the library  Annual Art Hop exhibit and reception at Georgetown Art Center and Georgetown Public Library  Bubbles & Brews fundraiser and Small W orks exhibit at Georgetown Art Center  2020 exhibits call for entries at Georgetown Art Center  State Lines exhibit at Southwestern University’s Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery  Sarofim Music Series: HUB New Music  Southwestern University’s theatre season starts with Silent Sky  Retro Game Day at Georgetown Public Library C. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from the August 21, 2018 Arts and Culture Board meeting. –Jane Estes, Board Chair. Motion by Watson; second by Sewell to approve the August 21, 2018 minutes. Approved 6-0 (Snuffer absent). D. Presentation and discussion on the City’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan Update. –Susan Watkins, Housing Coordinator and Nat Waggoner, Long-Range Planner. Historic and Downtown Planner Madison Thomas presented in Watkins & Waggoner’s absence. Thomas explained that the City adopted its 2030 Comprehensive Plan in 2008. The Plan acts as a guide to the City’s growth and development decisions. The City is kicking off the 2030 Plan Update which will take over a year to complete and aims to involve the entire community. The City may want feedback from the Arts and Culture Board regarding 14 gateway developments, to include items such as atmosphere, sidewalks, etc. Thomas encouraged board members to take the community survey at 2030.georgetown.org and attend the public meeting On the Table on October 2. Discussion followed about how the City would ensure all members of the community have access to the survey in multiple formats. Low income housing needs and Industrial were also discussed. No action required. Page 2 of 4 E. Renew of monthly report from the Arts and Culture Coordinator. – Sarah Blankenship, Arts and Culture Coordinator. Blankenship handed out a monthly report (attached). Highlighted in the report were the following items:  Update on call for art for City Hall/Municipal Court buildings- currently 26 entries  Sculpture tour  Art Hop  Arts meetings No action required. F. Consideration and possible action to approve rankings for the 2018-2019 Outdoor Sculpture Tour. – Sarah Blankenship, Arts and Culture Coordinator. Blankenship provided a chart showing sculpture proposals ranked highest to lowest, based on the board’s cumulative votes on Submittable. After a brief discussion, all were in agreement that the rankings came out in an order they generally agreed with. Blankenship requested the board include some alternate pieces in the motion in case there were unforeseen issues with the locations and top eleven ranked sculptures. Motion by Watson; second by Sewell to accept the top 11 ranked sculptures for the 2018-2019 Sculpture Tour with number 13 and 15 as alternates if needed. Motion approved 6-0 (Snuffer absent). Review and discussion regarding 2018-2019 project rankings. –Sarah Blankenship, Arts and Culture Coordinator and Eric Lashley, Library Director. Staff requested a ranking of proposed projects for fiscal year 2018-2019, as provided in the agenda. Board members handed in their rankings sheet. No action required. H. Consideration of future meeting dates. –Jane Estes, Chair. There will be a special meeting held on October 3 at 4:30 p.m. to review submissions for the City Hall/Municipal Court project. No action will be taken during this meeting, only a review and discussion of the submissions. The next regular meeting of the Arts and Culture Board will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 4:30 P.M. PRESENT: Jane Estes, Susie Flatau, Laura Sewell, Carol Watson, and Linda Wilde. ABSENT: Sharon Snuffer and Tim Fleming STAFF PRESENT: Sarah Blankenship – Arts and Culture Coordinator and Eric P. Lashley – Library Director. Chair Estes called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M. Regular Agenda A. Citizens wishing to address the Board. – Jane Estes, Board Chair. None were present. No action required. B. Consideration and possible action to select art proposals for the new City Hall and Municipal Court buildings. – Sarah Blankenship, Arts and Culture Coordinator and Eric Lashley, Library Director. Blankenship reviewed proposals for the City Hall and Municipal Court projects. The City received 29 entries for the City Hall rotunda, 29 for the Municipal Court transaction windows, and 37 entries for the Municipal Court lobby wall. Board members discussed the entries and asked Blankenship to contact a few artist to clarify their proposals. Blankenship will forward information about scoring the proposals and a link to a Google folder and Submittable. Board members have until October 14, 2018 to score the proposals. No action was required, no action taken. C. Consideration of future meeting dates. – Jane Estes, Board Chair. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 4:30 P.M. No action taken.
