Motion by Wilde; second by Fleming to move item G up on the agenda, to be discussed after item C regarding minutes. Approved 6-0. (Estes absent). D. Discussion of call for artist proposals for recycled street sign art project . – Eric Lashley, Library Director. Lashley handed out a proposed call to artists draft for a recycled street sign art project (attached). The board discussed many changes to the call and project details, including waiting until all signs are removed from the streets before sending out the call. This will allow a more detailed description of the signs to be given to interested artists. Artists should be given the opportunity to preview the signs and ask questions of City staff. Even though the most prominent word in the inventory will be “Austin”, the art needs to appeal to residents and visitors of Georgetown. Board members want to add the term “mixed media” and “mosaic” to the list of potential projects. The call should also be clear that the Arts and Culture Board may opt not to select any proposal. Lashley will include these changes in the call. No action required. Page 5 of 10 E. Review of monthly report from Georgetown Art Works. –Eric Lashley, Library Director.
