be held Friday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. Steven Harris passed around a brochure for the Women

to finish out the summer months’ art exhibits. Williamson County Art Guild will display art in
September followed by the Art Hop in October.
Still announced that a contract was signed for Austin Monthly to create an insert to go in its
October issue, featuring arts and culture organizations in Georgetown. Austin Monthly will
provide a template by June 1. A completed template will be given back to Austin Monthly by
the end of July so the final insert can be made in time for the October issue’s release.

Hendrix explained that item “I” states the Southwestern University representative should be a
faculty member. This is incorrect. The SU representative can be staff, faculty or an
Page 5 of 23
administrator. Melissa Waggoner moved to approve the minutes with the above mentioned
amendment for item “I”. Still seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
D. Election of Vice Chair. – Lawren Weiss. Shana Nichols moved to elect Waggoner as Vice
Chair of the Georgetown Arts & Culture Board for fiscal year 2105-16. Gary Anderson

E. Election of Secretary. – Lawren Weiss. Waggoner moved to elect Stewart as Secretary of
the Georgetown Arts & Culture Board for fiscal year 2015-16. Harris seconded the motion,

Lawren Weiss, Dana Hendrix. Weiss presented a Power Point to the board containing votes
for the Board’s top 3 mural picks and an image of each proposed mural. She also informed the
Board of the building owner’s top 3 picks and vetoes. After some discussion, the board agreed
on one artist to select for the mural project. Harris moved to select Joseph Magnano as the
mural artist for 711 Main Street. Stewart seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
G. Report and possible action regarding the expenditure of funds from the Arts & Culture Board
budget. – Lawren Weiss. Weiss reported that no money was spent during the previous month.
She asked the board to consider how they would like to spend the $3,000 remaining in the
budget designated for the Georgetown Art Center. Weiss asked the Board to consider funding
one of the Art Center’s exhibits with the remaining budget money. The Board discussed
different ways to spend the money to support the Art Center, including a sign-in podium,
sponsoring a child to go to summer camp at GAC, or purchasing piece from an exhibit at GAC.
H. Consideration and possible action to send a representative to the Americans for the Arts
Annual Convention. –Dana Hendrix. Hendrix reported the estimated costs related to attending
the convention in Chicago. She explained that the previously approved $1,600 for the trip may
not cover the costs for the representative attending. Still moved to transfer $400 from the
Public Art budget category to the Training & Administration category, in order to fund the
remaining estimated costs of the trip, bringing the total amount funded by the Arts & Culture
Board to $2,000. Anderson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The board discussed which representative to send the Americans for the Arts Convention in
Chicago, June 12-14. The Board asked Nichols if she was interested, but Nichols is
unavailable during the dates of the convention. Nichols moved to send Hendrix as the
Georgetown Arts & Culture Board’s representative to the Americans for the Arts Convention.
Waggoner seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
I. Report on the new arts website. –Dana Hendrix. Hendrix showed the Board a mock-up for the
new arts.georgetown.org website. The City of Georgetown hired a firm to re-design all of its
Page 6 of 23
websites, so the City would have a unified look no matter which department’s page you’re
using. Hendrix explained that she is in charge of content for this site and asked for the Board’s
feedback on that, as well as the look of the site. The Board gave kudos to Hendrix for all the
hard work she’s put into the site, they are happy with the new look.
J. Report on the City of Georgetown’s Breakfast Bites event. – Dana Hendrix. Hendrix presented
the flyer to the Board and asked Still to give more information about the event, since she is on
the Breakfast Bites panel. Still explained that the panel will how businesses and organizations
can capitalize on the downtown’s cultural district designation. This is a great marketing tool to
make Georgetown a signature destination. Jane Estes will mediate the panel which consists of
Amanda Still representing Georgetown Art Center, Arts & Culture Board and her own
experience as an artist/business owner; Mickie Ross will represent the Williamson Museum
and Marissa Austin will represent the Palace Theatre.
K. Report from Georgetown Art Works regarding the operation of the Georgetown Art Center
during the month of April. – Lawren Weiss. The Board reviewed the monthly report for April
regarding the Georgetown Art Center. Chair Sensabaugh suggested that discussion on the
report be tabled until next meeting due to time constraints. The board agreed to do so.
L. Consideration of future meetings. – Lawren Weiss. The next Arts & Culture Board meeting will
be Tuesday, June 16 at 4:30 p.m.
M. Report on Artist in Residency programs. – Dana Hendrix. Hendrix explained that the second
floor of the Art Center will be vacated by City offices sometime this year. The Georgetown Arts
& Culture Board has the opportunity to make a proposal on how to use the space. An Artist in
Residency program is one option the Board wants to explore. Hendrix gave a report to the
Board on her research for the Artist in Residency program. The space would allow an artist to
live there for a specific amount of time and create art that the City could benefit from. The
Board will consider this option for the proposal.
N. Field trip to the second floor of the Georgetown Art Center. – Dana Hendrix. Board members
visited the second floor of the Georgetown Art Center as a possible future space for the arts.
Chair Sensabaugh adjourned the meeting at 5:55 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Liz Stewart, Secretary Betty Ann Sensabaugh, Chair

Notes About May
We had no receptions or artist talks in the month of May. This
was a nice break for the volunteers as there were lots of end of
school year activities. It just fell this way due to the exhibit
schedule. The RECYCLED exhibit was a favorite of the kids and
families. I wish I could give you a better number for the visitor
number for May, but the battery died on the counter (didn’t know
it was a battery – lesson learned). The Paint Out was a success -
the artist loved it and the exhibit was successful – we sold 7
pieces of art.

•Women Painting Women exhibit and associated events ,
education and activities has been extremely well received. The
PR for the exhibit has been the biggest since w opened.
Austin media has embraced the exhibit and is promoting it in
print and online. We were contacted by Women in in the Arts
(DC) about the exhibit.
•Summer Camp – we have already beat our total registrants
number from last year.
•First “Member Mingle” event. Looking to introduce other
organizations to the art center through small informal
gatherings. Our first on is with our neighbor Georgetown
Heritage Society
•Fall 2015 and 2016 calendar planning is our focus this month.
We need to provide content for the Austin Monthly insert.
