PRESENT: Jane Estes, Susie Flatau, Laura Sewell, Sharon Snuffer, Carol Watson, and Linda Wilde. STAFF PRESENT: Sarah Jane Blankenship-Arts and Culture Coordinator, Eric Lashley – Library Services Director and Lawren Weiss-Administrative Assistant ABSENT: Tim Fleming A. Citizens wishing to address the Board. – Jane Estes, Board Chair. None were present. No action required. B. Introduction of new board member Susie Flatau. –Jane Estes, Chair. Chair Estes introduced new board member Susie Flatau to the board. Flatau gave her background and other members introduced themselves to Flatau. No action required. C. Announcements regarding arts and culture in Georgetown. Jane Estes, Board Chair. Updates from City staff and board members.  New bookstore Lark and Owl opening in October 2018.  Theatre and music series brochures given to board members from Southwestern University (attached).  Georgetown Art Center hosting Bubbles & Brews fundraiser October 13 from 7-9 pm. Flatau asked for vendor recommendations for inquiring about silent auction donations.  Georgetown ISD bonds coming for elementary schools which includes new instruments for students and new audio/lighting at the Performing Arts Center. D. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from the July 24, 2018 Arts and Culture Board meeting. –Jane Estes, Board Chair. Motion by Wilde; second by Sewell to approve the July 24, 2018 minutes. Approved 6-0 (Fleming absent). E. Monthly report from the Arts and Culture Coordinator. – Sarah Blankenship, Arts and Culture Coordinator. Blankenship handed out a monthly report (attached). Highlighted in the report were the following:  Submissions for City Center project. Board discussed how to eliminate barriers for artists who may be unfamiliar with digital submission processes.  Grant letter from Texas Bach Festival (attached). Page 2 of 4  Report on Georgetown Art Works meeting regarding Veterans in Art exhibit. Lashley and Blankenship attended the meeting and discussed the possibility of bringing the exhibit to the library.  Library display cases feature pieces by local arts organizations. Current display is from the Sun City Stained Glass Club. Blankenship asked for more ideas for displays from the board.  City Staff art show  Georgetown Photography Festival, March 2019. In partnership with the Williamson Museum. Blankenship helped design logo for the festival since the City “G” logo couldn’t be used.  Meredith Mitchell donations  Monthly arts and culture newsletter/update- send Blankenship anything you want featured- she’ll also put on the calendar.  Grants  Georgetown Art Works monthly report. Board members would like more accurate numbers for artist reception attendance. Recommended checking door counts before and after event for more precise numbers. Lashley will make the recommendation to GAW. No action required. F. Review and discussion of sculpture proposals for the City’s annual sculpture tour. –Sarah Blankenship, Arts and Culture Coordinator. Board discussed submissions for the next sculpture tour. Voting will take place next month. No action required. G. Consideration of future meeting dates. –Jane Estes, Chair. The next regular meeting of the Arts and Culture Board will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 4:30 P.M.
