Call to order by Urban at 5:34 p.m. and he read the order of business.
The Historic and Architectural Review Commission Sign Subcommittee is responsible for
hearing and taking final action on sign applications, by issuing Certificates of Design
Compliance based upon the City Council adopted Downtown Design Guidelines. This is a
regular scheduled meeting of the Sign Subcommittee, for consideration and possible action on
the following:
1. Review and possible action on the minutes from the January 13, 2014 Sign Subcommittee
meeting.
Motion by Knight to approve the minutes as presented. Second by Urban. Approved
2 – 0.
2. Public Hearing and possible action on a Certificate of Design Compliance Request for
signage at Glasscock Addition, Block 5, Lot 5 (W/P), 6(SW/PT), .16 acres located at 415 W
10th St (CDC-2013-062)
Synatschk presented the staff report. The applicant seeks Certificate of Design
Compliance approval from HARC for exterior signage on the primary facade. The
request includes a flush mounted sign and a portable sign. The large red boot was
deemed signage because there was wording on it that advertised the business. The
applicant chose to remove the boot. Staff recommends approval. The commissioners
did not have any questions. Knight stated she disagreed with the ruling that the boot
was a sign, and actually liked it as art.
Urban opened the Public Hearing and with no speakers coming forth, closed the
hearing.
Motion by Knight to approve the CDC as proposed. Second by Urban. Approved 2 –
0.
3. Adjournment. Motion to adjourn by Knight. Meeting adjourned at 5:37 p.m.
