ITEM SUMMARY: Hidden Oaks at Berry Creek is a proposed new neighborho o d that will be part of the Berry Creek Country Club . This development is very early in the p ro c es s as they still need to rec eive zoning and sub mit a plat. There are 226 lots proposed fo r this s ubdivis ion. They are reques ting to pay a fee in lieu of land d ed icatio n s inc e there is a 2.7 ac re park that is 1/3 mile away from their subdivis io n. The P arks Mas ter Plan s ays the servic e area fo r a neighborho o d park is a 1/2 mile. Fees would be c o llec ted at $250 p er lot for a total amount o f $56,500. The fees collec ted wo uld b e put into zone 17 for future p ark d evelopment. The 2.7 acre p ark that is 1/3 mile from this sub divis io n is in zone 10 which is a s ec ond ary zo ne to zo ne 17 allo wing fo r City s taff to utilize the fund s to d evelop the park. In ad d ition, this d evelopment is proposing three areas of green spac e. Area 1 is 3.89 ac res and and will have a s id ewalk all the way around which c ould s erve as a walking p ath. In ad d ition, the residents will have acc es s to the Berry C reek amenities . Staff is s uppo rtive of this reques t b eing that there already is a neighb o rhood park les s than 1/2 mile away fro m the s ubd ivis ion. This item is o nly for d is cus s io n and feed b ac k. Once zoning is approved and a plat has been submitted this development will come back to the P arks and Recreation Advisory Board for final approval. FINANCIAL IMPACT: NA SUBMITTED BY: Kimberly Garrett, Parks and Recreatio n Direc to r ATTACHMENTS: Description Type Staff Report Backup Material Page 5 of 12 Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Projects – August 2016 San Gabriel Bank Stabilization – This segment of retaining wall is funded through bond revenue approved by voters in 2008. It will provide bank stabilization for the section just west of the low water crossing at the confluence of the North and South Rivers. The wall is approximately 1700 feet long. The project received approval from the City Council on January 12th.The gates at the dam in San Gabriel Park were pulled February 29th with construction beginning the same week. The project is scheduled for completion June 1st. Status: The project is moving forward well. The contractor has about 150’ left to connect to the existing WPA wall. Once complete, the site will be cleaned up, graded and seeded. Anticipated completion date for the project is September 1st. VFW Park – The renovations of the current softball complex are moving forward. All Musco field lighting has been installed. The foundation for the restroom/concession building has been poured. Construction of the building is scheduled to begin August 15th. Storm sewer has been installed. Project is scheduled for completion at the end of February. Page 6 of 12 Garey Park – Design continues to be refined along with probable cost estimates and operations budgets. Staff is currently reviewing and commenting on 95% drawings. The project is scheduled to begin the bid process in September. San Gabriel Park –City Council approved selling $1.7 of the 2008 Park bonds for the construction improvements at their October 27th meeting. Staff met with RVI Planning on July 8th to review progress on the design development drawings. The project is still on schedule for bid in late 2016. Village Park and Pool – Project is in final design stage for compliance of ADA issues. Project will bid in fall of 2016. No change McMasters Park – Project is in final design stage for compliance of ADA issues. Project will bid in fall of 2016. No change Founders Park –A second public meeting was held on July 28th at 4:30 PM at the park. Approximately 25 people attended. The simplified design met the approval of all who were there. The project is now under final design with the engineers and will be bid later in the fall. ITEM SUMMARY: Funds fo r the Bike Mas ter P lan have no t b een inc lud ed in the 2016/2017 bud get. There will be a first read ing of the b udget o n August 23rd and the s ec ond reading o n September 13th. Initial p lans were to utilize grad uate s tud ents at UT to do the bike mas ter p lan. At this time, it is unc ertain whether that will happen. There will b e an up d ate at the Septemb er 8th meeting. College Street, Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session – To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. Parks and Recreation Board may, at any time, recess the Regular Session to convene an Executive Session at the request of the Keith Fruge for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551.) Regular Session A Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Keith Fruge at 6:03 pm. B Roll Call Present: Danelle Houck, Glenn Holzer, Keith Fruge, Jim Hougnon Absent: Sharon Reed, Scott Macmurdo and Robert Palko C Introduce Parks and Recreation Student Intern - Madison Haynie Madison Haynie was not able to attend as she was sent to Colorado to help the Adventure Program get a van back after breaking down. Robert Gaylor gave information about Madison and the work she has been doing while she has been here. She will be scheduled to attend the August meeting. D Update from the Friends of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Danelle Houck gave an update of the Friends of Georgetown Parks and Recreation. She stated that for the Daddy Daughter dance they had 143 people register ahead of time and 81 register at door for a total of 223 attending the dance which has been their largest crowd in the 3 years of doing the dance. The raffle table raised $410.00 and admissions to the dance that night raised $1,640.00. So total raised the night of the dance was $2,050 and that does not include the registrations prior to the night of the dance. The photographer will pay a commission on the packages he sold as well. The Friends are looking forward to the 4th annual dance. Their next meeting is August 1st and September 25th is their general membership meeting and their yearly election of officers. The assistance program has had a lot of requests this summer. Georgetown Swims is in the second session of the summer lessons with the Boys and Girls Club and last week swim lessons started with the Exceptional Georgetown Alliance. The Friends paid for World’s Largest Swim registration that the aquatic staff conducted and used Camp Goodwater campers to participate. Kimberly Garrett stated the proceeds from the Daddy Daughter Dance will be used for purchasing playground equipment for the McMaster Complex.
