Introduction and discussion on the 2014-15 Strategic Action Plan Items
ITEM SUMMARY:
· Goal 1: Attracting & Retaining a Healthy Business Mix
a) Host Breakfast Bites Training – Karen/Daniel
Committee update for next Breakfast Bites – Sheraton Convention Center/Hotel
Confirm speakers for panel discussion & moderator, set date – Nov. 18?
· Design promotional materials two weeks prior to promote via social media.
· Host event and review survey evaluation to plan for next training.
· Reach out to new downtown business owners to attend.
b) Welcome potential/new businesses to make aware of process and opportunities
· Distribute brochure via Downtown Lowdown meetings, Breakfast Bites and visits.
· Review brochure on a quarterly basis and update as needed. – Bob/Jeff
c) Support and promote downtown businesses via Shop Small Spree, monthly lunches & block
captain visits
· Promote Holiday Hours and Shop Small Spree (Nov. 28) date via social media, Treasure Hunt
theme - update on joint meetings with DGA, Chamber, SU & Main Street. -– Jim/Vicki/Karen
· Report on September 21 luncheon attendance and select day and location for monthly luncheon
with Main Street Board/Committees. – Oct. 19 at CJ’s - Cheryl
· Review block assignments with committee, distribute map with assignments. – Jim
d) Contact and complete downtown business & property owners info for database
· Training to staff and board. - Vicki
· Report on forms completion from Block Captains for updated property information.
· Update database with new information for next meeting.
· Goal 2: Raise awareness and funding for Georgetown Main Street Program
a) Promote Façade & Sign Grant Program to business and property owners
· Keep on-going list of completed façade and sign grant recipients and schedule upcoming dates
for check presentations – DIVA, Mikey V’s, Main Street Baptist, , Mills & Williams, LLP; Aristans
Connect Gallery - Jeff/Vicki
· Schedule for Downtown Low Down meetings and confirm photographer (Keith H.) and make
sure photos are posted on city website and FB pages. - Jeff
· Educate new and existing businesses about grants for façade & signage.
· Goal 3: Promoting downtown’s image as a signature destination
a) Promote and support downtown as a Cultural District by using the arts as economic
development – Bill/Bob
· Partner with CVB, HARC and Arts & Culture Boards and determine next visit to Ft. Worth -
Sundance Square on October 23 & 24, to gain new ideas. - Chet/Jim
· Plan with new SU contact (Laura Sewell) and Fine Arts programs to promote student
involvement and performance in downtown. – Jim/Bob
b) Encourage and promote Georgetown as a College Town – Jim/Daniel
· Attend bi-monthly College Town Committee meeting November 19 to continue partnerships and
interface with new SU Coordinator, Paul Secord.
· Publicize special events and marketing opportunities at SU with downtown businesses via social

football games.
