· Goal 1: Attracting & Retaining a Healthy Business Mix
a) Host Breakfast Bites Training
· Make list of potential speakers for the upcoming Breakfast Bites program on crowdfunding –
(Hall Martin, Karen Soeffker, David Rentschler)
· Reach out to new downtown business owners and developers with new/upcoming projects and
invite to attend/present
· Confirm speakers and sponsors a month in advance – February 18th - Bill
· Design promotional materials three weeks in advance to promote through social media, videos
and/or flyers –(in-house)
b) Welcome potential/new businesses to make aware of process and opportunities - Julie
· Update printed brochure and produce digital version adding free marketing/networking
opportunities (status on final revisions)- Julie
· Distribute brochures (once completed) through Block Captain visits and quarterly Downtown
Low Down meetings
c) Recap November 29th’s Shop Small Spree event – Jim/Marcy
Select December 19? for monthly luncheon and restaurant location and notify Main Street board
and committee members of next planned event – Cheryl
d) Report on progress of downtown business and property owners database- Vicki
e) Target downtown buildings for specific new business mix – Bill/Bob/Cheryl
· Make list of downtown buildings that are currently available
· Goal 2: Raising Awareness and Funding for Main Street Program Projects
a) Promote Façade & Sign Grant Program to business and property owners - All
· Keep ongoing list of completed façade and sign grant recipients and schedule upcoming dates for
check presentations near current Main Street mtgs. (Galaxy Bakery, DIVA) - Marcy
· Schedule date a week in advance and confirm photographer and make sure photos are posted on
city website and FB pages
· Invite all board and committee members to attend
· Goal 3: Promoting Downtown’s Image as a Signature Destination
a) Promote and support downtown as a Cultural District by using the arts as E.D. – Bill/Julie
· Partner with CVB, HARC and Arts & Culture Boards to visit successful downtowns to gain new
ideas: (Denton visit, rescheduled to January 30-31) - Cheryl/Vicki
· Meet and plan with SU and GISD Fine Arts programs to promote student involvement and
performance in downtown. Dr. Gaffney (SU) Fine Arts students – Jim, Marcy, Julie, Bill
· Compile a database of local musicians - Bob
b) Encourage and promote Georgetown as a College Town – Jim/Marcy
· Attend bi-monthly College Town Committee meetings to continue partnerships - January 22, 3
PM, Dan Rather Room
· Publicize special events and marketing opportunities at SU via social media and Block Captain
visits (175th Anniversary festivities, temporary holiday housing of international students)
· Communicate with downtown businesses regarding special SU event dates and marketing
opportunities. (Pirate Card update, face-to-face meetings for Homecoming Parade with SU staff &
downtown businesses completed)
