Introduction and discussion on the 2014-15 Strategic Action Plan Items
ITEM SUMMARY:
· Goal 1: Attracting & Retaining a Healthy Business Mix
a) Host Breakfast Bites Training – Karen/Daniel/Jim
· Discuss possible topics for the next Breakfast Bites program for May timeframe – 2nd floors,
economic impact of arts & culture, extended business hours
· Reach out to new downtown business owners and developers with new/upcoming projects and
invite to attend/present
b) (Possibly remove from action plan) Welcome potential/new businesses to make aware of
process and opportunities
· Reminder for updated brochure to all ERC members for distribution as needed
· Distribute Annual Downtown Stakeholder Survey through Block Captain visits and quarterly
Low Down meetings (All)
· Review downtown overlay maps with revised block captains shown
c) Meeting date for monthly luncheon (April 20th) and restaurant location and notify Main Street
board and committee members of next planned event. – Cheryl
d) Report on progress of downtown business and property owners database- Vicki

· Update on downtown buildings that are currently available.
· Goal 2: Raising Awareness and Funding for Main Street Program Projects
a) Promote Façade & Sign Grant Program to business and property owners - All
· Keep ongoing list of completed façade and sign grant recipients and schedule upcoming dates for
check presentations: Diva, Gatzby/Patti Colbert - Cheryl
· Schedule date a week in advance and confirm photographer and make sure photos are posted on
city website and FB pages. - Cheryl
· Invite all board and committee members to attend - Cheryl
· Goal 3: Promoting Downtown’s Image as a Signature Destination
a) Promote and support downtown as a Cultural District by using the arts as E.D. – Bill
· Partner with CVB, HARC and Arts & Culture Boards to visit successful downtowns to gain new
ideas
· (Possibly remove from action plan) Meet and plan with SU (Elena Garcia) and Fine Arts
programs to promote student involvement and performance in downtown. – Jim/Bob
· (Possibly remove from action plan) Update on compiled list of local musicians - Bob
b) Encourage and promote Georgetown as a College Town – Jim/Daniel
· Attend bi-monthly College Town Committee meetings to continue partnerships
(March 26, 3 PM, Dan Rather Room)
· (Possibly remove from action plan) Publicize special events and marketing opportunities at SU
with downtown businesses via social media and Block Captain visits: Pirate Bike Promotion in
April, Visitor Ctr/Campus Tour, 175th Celebration.
