Please contact the City Secretary’s Office, at least three (3) days prior to the scheduled meeting date, at (512) 930 -3652 or City Hall at 808 Martin Luther King Street for additional information; TTY users route through Relay Texas at 711. Trisha Tallman called the meeting to order at 9:01 AM. T. Tallman, A. Adams, D. Gaume, K. Hill, K. Curry, S. Rodocker, and C. Tomasewski were in attendance. Guests in attendance were, Brody Maloney, Kole Kimberlin, Chase Thinger Staff in attendance, Eric P. Lashley, Library Director, Amanda Still, Arts & Culture Coordinator, and Kim McAuliffe, Downtown Development Manager. Regular Session (This regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) A. Call to order at 9:01 a.m. B. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the March 8, 2019 board meeting minutes – Trisha Tallman, Board Chair Motion by K. Hill to approve the minutes as presented. Second by A. Adams. Approved: 7-0 C. Report on conceptual ideas for City Center outdoor space – Eric P. Lashley, Library Director All conceptual designs were based on the need for public space from the Downtown Masterplan. E. Lashley gave a background overview of the site and desire to create a campus for the municipal buildings through creative place making. He also discussed low-hanging fruit and projects that can take place in the near future. After attending other board meetings, feedback was to give more consideration to public restrooms, parking, shade, trash collection, maintenance, traffic on MLK, and how to phase the project if needed. Funding for the project could come from a variety of sources including the Downtown TIRZ, grants, or maybe bonds. He will take this to council for feedback. Main Street Board members feedback included thoughts about branding, how the naming of the plaza would be important to the feel of the space, they would like to see more trees, and ample signage. D. Consideration and possible action to elect a Vice-Chair and Secretary – Trisha Tallman, Board Chair Motion by T. Tallman to elect Aaron Adams as Vice-Chair and Karen Curry as Secretary. Second by K. Hill. Approved: 7-0 E. Project Team, Block Captains for BR&E, & Partner Updates K. Hill reported on the Swirl, the first meeting to start planning the 2020 event will be held in late July or early August. There are ideas to incorporate a roaring 20’s theme into this year’s event. Ticket sales will start on November 30 in conjunction with Small Business Saturday. Sponsorship package rates have increased due to the increase in event expenses. The theme is preservation and history of downtown. Next dates are September 11 and December 12. F. Staff Report Staff reported on new business additions and relocations in downtown. An update for the façade grant totals was given and over $123,000 remains in the fund to be used for future requests. Upcoming events include: Market Days, Preservation Georgetown Home Tours on April 13-14, and the Red Poppy Festival on April 26- 28. There is an opportunity to participate with the spring merchant fair at SU, Trisha and Kim will setup at this event and represent Main Street. There will be a Main Street Reunion on June 22. Linda McCalla is planning the occasion and inviting former Main Street Managers and Board Members to Georgetown. She would like for the current board to assist with the event and participate with the activities for the reunion. Adjourn Motion by S. Rodocker to adjourn the meeting. Second by A. Adams. T. Façade & Sign Grant Check Reimbursement – Lark & Owl Booksellers The Main Street Advisory Board took a brief recess at 9:02 to present the owners of Lark & Owl Booksellers with a “big check” for their Main Street Façade & Sign Grant award. D. National Accreditation Presentation The Main Street Advisory Board was presented with the 2019 National Accreditation Certificates from the Texas Historic Commission Main Street Program and the National Main Street Center. T. Tallman reconvened the meeting at 9:10 a.m. E. Consideration and possible action on a Main Street Sign Grant Request – 817 S. Austin Avenue Staff provided an overview of the sign grant request for La Bella Casa, Too located at 817 S. Austin Avenue. The sign request included a 45” x 96” single face painted MDO panel with vinyl letters and logo with installation as well as vinyl letters applied to the window and door. The total cost for the project is $1,456.50 and the applicant has requested the maximum $500 grant. A motion for approval, pending the historic planner’s approval was made by K. Curry. Second by K. Hill. Approved: 7-0 F. Project Team, Block Captains for BR&E, & Partner Updates The Breakfast Bites team has a program coming up on June 12. The theme is preservation and history of downtown. The board gave the project team feedback on their ideas and the team will meet soon to gather artwork. This year Shop Small will be spearheaded by the Chamber and Main Street and the DGA will assist in planning efforts. With the TDA Conference in Georgetown this fall, both organizations will be heavily involved in that event. There were no BRE updates for May. Staff requested suggestions for future visits. G. Staff Report Staff reported on new business additions and relocations in downtown. An update for the façade grant totals was given and over $123,000 remains in the fund to be used for future requests. There are likely to be additional requests in this fiscal year but no more than $40,000 is anticipated. Staff reminded the board that it is Preservation Month and activities are planned for the duration of the month. Additionally, the Main Street Board Retreat is scheduled for next month on June 4 in La Grange. Adjourn Motion by A. Adams to adjourn the meeting. Second by S. Rodocker. T.
