Introduction and discussion on the 2014-15 Strategic Action Plan Items
ITEM SUMMARY:
· Goal 1: Attracting & Retaining a Healthy Business Mix
a) Create uniform window signage for vacant downtown storefronts - Sheila/Shelly
· Design/select graphics with Most Beautiful Town Square logo
· Identify vacant buildings and contact property owners
· Develop and complete MOA for signage installation
b) Raise awareness of the benefits of buying/leasing historic commercial property – Michael/Matt
· Partner with HARC to host semi-annual training for realtors
· Select dates and locations and promote through WCAR and other organ.
· Goal 2: Raising Awareness and Funding for Main Street Program Projects
a) Continue funding for annual “Light Up the Square” holiday lighting campaign through
collectible ornament fundraiser – David/Taylor
b) Continue annual “Light Up the Square” holiday lighting contest – Julie
· Streamline holiday lighting contest and sponsorship sign-up forms
· Distribute forms through quarterly meetings
· Select contest judges and encourage media coverage
· Follow up and thank participating merchants and media on coverage
· Goal 3: Promoting Downtown's Image as a Signature Destination
a) Promote and support public art in downtown through Main Street Mural – Julie/Amanda
· Follow up with artists who submitted entries to the call for art - Julie
· Print and install mural – Shelly/David
· Plan and execute reception for mural unveiling – Julie/Amanda
· Evaluate process and follow up with thank yous as needed – Julie/Amanda
a) Beautify downtown by screening utility and trash areas – Michael/Julie
b) Continue to explore the development of 8th St. Courtyard project – David/Shelly
· Partner with Arts & Culture Board to work with ThunderCloud on point of egress
· Evaluate feasibility of project with property owners – schedule meeting with Mrs. Stubbs
