Introduction and discussion on the 2014-15 Strategic Action Plan Items
ITEM SUMMARY:
· Goal 1: Attracting & Retaining a Healthy Business Mix
a) Acknowledge contributions made by downtown businesses promoting Georgetown
· Present Main Street Star Awards, as needed, at quarterly Breakfast Bites or Downtown Low
Down meetings – Trisha
· Goal 2: Raising Awareness and Funding for Main Street Program Projects
a) Increase awareness of Small Business Saturday and funding for downtown lighting through
annual Ladies Nite Out to raise $5,000 – Kay/Becca
· Discuss theme “Paint the Town Red”, graphics and décor – Cindy/Kay/Becca
· Determine sponsorship levels and recruit sponsors – Vicki/Becca/Cindy
· Select volunteer coordinator (need about 12 volunteers) – Cindy/Trisha
· Recruit downtown host businesses and possible Wolf Ranch partners (shopping, services and
attractions) – Kay/Becca/Vicki
· Secure entertainment and photographer (to include Man Cave) – Blake/Nelson
· Get quotes on Swag Bags and present to committee - Kay
· Coordinate Fashion Show – Kay/Alva/Zelinda/KellyAnn
· Solicit giveaways for swag bags and prepare coupon book –Trisha/Kathy/Liz/Denise
· Coordinate advertising, publicity – Shelly/Kay/Becca
· Coordinate Painting on the Square - Kay
· Promote and secure freebies for Small Business Saturday promotion - Shelly
· Evaluate event and celebrate success – Cindy/Kay/Becca
b) Increase funding for the Façade & Sign Grant Program through the annual Georgetown Swirl to
raise $20,000
· Discuss some possible committee assignments regarding 2016 Swirl – Vicki/Cindy
i. Contacting restaurants – Trisha
ii. Contacting retailers & event management and promotion – Karen
iii. Décor and Rentals – Kathy
iv. VIP Coordinators – Trisha & Cindy
· Begin Swirl meetings in August 2015, to include final committee assignments
· Goal 3: Promoting Downtown’s Image as a Signature Destination
a) Use consistent image and message when marketing downtown Georgetown
· Explore and produce cooperative advertising such as a downtown coupon book, holiday
advertising, and an extended/weekend hours campaign – Karen/Shelly/Kay
