Staff presented the application with background information for funding a new roof covering with insulation to
allow for the interior ceiling to be exposed. The applicant provided further details for the project and answered
questions from the board. The Board then went through the scoring review process and determined that the
project qualified for up to the maximum grant recommendation of $20,000. K. Curry made a motion to fund
50% of eligible expenditures for 212 W. 7th Street, with a cap of $20,000. Second by B. Nicholson.
Approved: 7-0
C. Discussion and possible action regarding progress of committee reports & project teams:
a. Promotions Committee
T. Tallman discussed the promotions committee activities, she informed the board that the committee had
their final meeting last month and the members were told about the changes to the structure. They also
discussed the different project teams and invited the members to consider joining a project team to stay
involved with Main Street.
b. Shop Small
T. Tallman discussed the activities of the Shop Small group. The DGA, Chamber and Main Street are all
working together for the events this year. The theme is related to arts and culture and the participating
retailers are encouraged to showcase their art or artisan made products if they have them.
c. Economic Vitality
K. Curry discussed the economic vitality committee activities. She informed the board that the committee
had their final meeting the day before and the members were told about the changes to the structure. The
members were told about the project teams and encouraged to choose a team where they were interested

discussion regarding the creation of a Collaboration Team, but at this time the board is going to first go and

deemed an unsafe structure and will make way for new construction of “The Lofts on Rock”, sidewalk

GoGeo bus route will start offering service on Monday, August 21. Rides for the first two weeks are free. Six
boutiques in downtown are working together to have “La Boutique DUMP Sale” on August 26. It’s great to
see the stores working together to create their own unique promotional event. Upcoming downtown partner
meetings were given. Each board member committed to attend at least one meeting over the next month.

RE: 704 S Austin Ave Grant
Approved March 10, 2017
Mesquite Creek Outfitters
Main Street Advisory Board:
The original grant was based on the intent to begin construction within the 90 days after
approval. The tenant experienced an unexpected growth shortly after opening and
decided to re-consider future needs in light of the additional space allowed by fire
sprinklering the building.
The negotiation process with the building and fire departments to determine the potential
scope of the expanded improvements and resulting additional engineering delayed the
re-bidding of the work. The permit is ready to issue, but the start of demolition and
construction at this time would impact the up coming holiday season.
The tenant appologizes for the missed start deadline and is asking to delay start of
demolition and construction until after the holidays. They plan to begin in January, 2018
with completion by June, 2018; approximately 90 days or less beyond the originally
scheduled completion date.
We respectfully request your favorable consideration of our request and stand ready to
answer any questions concerning this delay.
Sincerely,
Ken Horak
